I've never had this before.
Completed all suggestion tests/ magnetic hands, handlock etc. Dropped very easily into hypnosis and reinductions no problem. Totally obeying the command to 'sleep'. BUT not obeying any other instrtuction either at the time or post-hypnotic. She did however say over and over, each time she was brought out: "I just want to sleep". Is THIS what is called a sleeper? bobser

Yep...
There a few theories about this. A) They are unconsciuosly rebelling against the hypnotist b) They are really tired been over working or stressed and the unconscious just really appreciates the deep relaxation c) You've kick started a process where the unconscious is rebalancing resetting something a ki nd of healing process that it doesn't want to disturb. Bit like your pc hanging as it trise to process the files. d) They are just duds just leave em. Sleepers sometimes go so deep that they don't respond to the usual suggestions to come out of trance. I have heard stories that people have been rushed to hospital because the hypnotist didn't know how to get them out. Of course there is nothing dangerous normal sleep will take over and they will awaken feeling great. I had a sleeper once that took 45 mins to come round. Mind you she had two hearing aids which didn't help. Plus It was in the Odeon the night before the premier of Rob Roy and all the stars were turning up! When she did finally come around she didn't recognise her boyfriend and thought she was out shoping with her parents! The lights were on and there was a team of workmen around her building the stage for the premier! It could easily have made front page of the Evening News! |

I hate those sleepers. Whenever it happens I leave them on the stage through one routine, to let it sink in to the audience that they have completely zonked out (MindPunisher could be right in his psychology, but I believe some just simply fall asleep). Then I wake them up and return them to the audience. They are doing nothing for my show. Luckily it is not common - and it seems to happen more often in pub settings, when drink is involved. Though that is a very subjective opinion.
