Axel Hecklau will be lecturing for the Parent Assembly, SAM #1, on Monday, June 22nd, at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center, 1425 Madison Avenue at 98th Street.
Axel Hecklau lives in Berlin, Germany. In 2008 he toured with his second lecture all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It was the biggest lecture tour in the history of the German Magic Circle ever (43 cities). Axel Hecklau has been in magic for 30 years, is a well known working pro in Germany, and has won 15 magic prizes at 15 magic competitions. Since 2004, he has performed in his own weekly close-up show in Berlin. Highlights of his "Details" lecture include: Newsflash - Torn & Restored Newspaper: Exremely visual and easy to perform Gene Anderson on it: "Brilliant!" Geaton Bloom: "It has torn me up" Video trailer: http://www.axelhecklau.com/viplounge/Vid......lish.htm One Cup An easy cup routine with an "ungimmicked" chop-cup. It explores new possibilities using a different gimmick for more natural movements. Out of This World X-treme Axel Hecklau's version of a classic for extreme table hopping conditions. No table, no side switch, faster, and uses a borrowed shuffled deck Cola Cap Innovative, very visual, practical Cap in Bottle routine. (the "fooler" in the lecture) Spoonaround Pure comedy with a soup spoon in the mouth (the hit of Axel's first Germany lecture tour, "Effective" 2004) Cue Control Axel's proven system to cue music during a show by yourself. It is invisible for the audience and allows the performer complete and independent control - preventing mistakes by unreliable helpers. It makes it possible for solo performers to use music as an important stylistic and dramatic device. ... and many more if the audiance has enough energy When: Monday, June 22, 2009, 7:45 PM Where: Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Seminar Room (Main Floor) or Room 1184, depending on availability, 1425 Madison Avenue, at 98th Street, New York, NY Admission policy: Free to S.A.M. Parent Assembly #1 members $25 for non-member magicians |

The above description about sums it up. Cola cap is incredibly convincing. Newsflash is extremely practical and very visual (see the video link). The strolling Out of This World was also very praciticial - no table required and no pause to switch columns in the middle of the effect. One cup had a definite advantage over the standard chop cup; one does not have to worry about hitting the table surface hard enough to dislodge the ball. Spoonaround is very comical with a strong magical surprise ending. The cue control tips were very practical sound advice for the working pro.

I just attended his lecture in Louisville. It was a fantastic lecture. Probably the best thing I took away from it was how he took previous effects and put additional thought and invention into them to take them to the next level - Newsflash and One Cup for example.
I've used a PK ring for a chopless chop cup, but Axel's gimmick does this one better. Check out his website and if you get a chance to see him lecture, go! We also had the pleasant surprise of Gene Anderson popping in. It was a nice moment when during the explanation of Newsflash, Axel was referring to previous methods and gave a polite bow toward Gene. - Steve |

Hi All,
I'm a little late in posting this, but Axel lectured at my place a few weeks ago. It was fantastic! Everything about the lecture was top-notch. His choice of effects showed a lot of variety and great thought. News-Flash was, of course, what brought most people there and it certainly met or exceeded everyone's expectations, but they weren't expecting all of the other great material. Cue Control is a wonderful solution to the issue of music control and interested many in attendance. His Center tear routining is so well thought out. The spoon routine and Cola Cap were the best solutions to those effects I've seen. One of my personal favorites was his idea on the One Coin routine and that is going right into my working repertoire. I could go on and on, but I would encourage all of you to see Axel Hecklau lecture. You will be entertained and learn a lot. |

Never criticize someone else until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Then, when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away from them and you will have their shoes.
