Do any of you Café members own Collectors' Workshop Toast of the Town and/or Millennium Card Rise? I'd like to ask what you think about these devices.
Thanks in advance. Joe Finkler |

....And why doesn't Collectors Workshop make any promotional video. I try to find any performance of Toast of the Town on the internet and it is like the trick doesn't exist. When you read what you can do it sounds great, but it is too much money for something you can see it performed.

I see that this is hitting more than two years after the last posts were made... nevertheless, here we go. I, too, have been intrigued by the trick "Toast of the Town" for quite some time now. Still, to this day, there are no reviews or videos online of the trick being performed - which seems really strange.
After reading the tricks description, I was really wanting to incorporate it into my dinner shows, if it met certain criteria. In the right situation, it could be a marvel and would tie-in perfectly with my line of magic. I decided to give George Robinson at Collector's Workshop a call. I already own a few creations from CW, so am familiar with the outstanding quality of their pieces and, that for the price, the piece would be made to perfection. George and I had a very nice discussion, as I needed many questions answered regarding the workings for my situation. The apparatus met all the criteria - and so I ordered one. Freshly manufactured and on its way. I'm excited to be receiving it, as well as performing it for my clients. I'll keep you posted! |

Not sure if you can find one but CW did put out a video cataloque with most of their effects on it (with Rich Bloch). I doubt if it is available any longer but if you can get a copy it is a good reference. Newer effects may not be on it. I do not have "Toast of the Town" but do have, or have seen most of their other effects if you need input.

More news on the Toast Of The Town. I received the merchandise from Collector's Workshop and was beyond disappointed. I requested a full refund, and was granted it, including shipping. Even though I was dissatisfied with the trick, but already owning several other CW effects, I still consider Collector's Workshop among the best producers of quality magic in the industry! The item was beautifully made and the inlay detail was absolutely gorgeous, but Toast Of The Town is definitely a piece for a collector of magical apparatus and not for the working performer.
After contacting George Robinson, he discovered that my complaints were legitimate, and his immediate attention to customer support and satisfaction was better than with any other magic company I have ever dealt. Getting a refund out of a Magic Dealer is rare, and this item was pricey so, needless to say, I am very relieved!! It was obvious that George was truly saddened by the situation, and that a customer of his was unhappy; it was nice knowing that he actually cared, and accepted my constructive criticism graciously and professionally. CW will be removing the item from their website, and will work out the bugs. The idea and workings are brilliant, yet definitely need some refining, and I'm certain (at least, hopeful) that the trick will be back around and better than ever. CW is definitely a company to trust. |
