Dear magical friend,
As we did in the last 9 years , this year we are preparing to organise the 10 th Izmir Magic gettogether. Naturaly we have learned much from last years and again this will be a friendly 3 days full of magic. The details in brief as follows:

The Date of the Event: 13,14 and 15 th of August

The Place of the Event: Izmir, Turkey

OBA Holiday Site

Guzelbahce / Izmir / Turkey

http://www.obahotel.net

( But GALA Night will be in Bab-i Sanat Theater )

The contents of the event:

At the OBA HOLIDAY SITE:

- Open Stage: Where anybody can use the stage as much and as often as he wishes,

- Close up Sessions till morning every evening.

- Magic Bazaars

- Magic Seminars,

- Workshops,

- Lectures

- Brain stormings

- Cengiz Ozyurt tribute Corner

- Lots of Conversations which will never end.

- And anything may come as offers and recommendations.

At The BAB-I SANAT THEATER:

- Gala Night and Magic Bazaar.

Details in Brief: -The first day: We will begin by registering and Magic Bazaar till evening and will go on with seminars and lectures which will be announced later as the people confirm what they will do. During evening there will be an Open Stage which will be available for those who want to show or share something as well as the dealers who want to demonstrate their goods. No limit will be set, but registering in advance will be required. And as usual we will do close ups around a big table till morning with those who can resist.

- The second day: We will again have the Magic Bazaar and lectures during the day. And people may also enjoy the swimming pool for sometime. In the late afternoon we shall move to Bab-ý Sanat Theater for the Gala Show. And there will be again a Magic Bazaar for there may be new comers to our event from the center of the city.

In the Gala Show; some Turkish Performers as well as any Foreign friend will perform. The priority to perform will be on the foreign friends for we will not have a chance to see them often around Turkey. The duration of ther acts will be free for the foreigners but will be limited to 10 minutes for the domestic performers. After the Gala Show we will move back to OBA holiday site where open stage and close up sessions will be carried with those who want to sleep late.

- The third day: We will again begin with magic bazaar, lectures, workshops and seminars. We will have Open stage all the day long and finally towards the midnight we will officially close the event. However we may continue with those who also want to stay more.

Fee Strategy: Individual: 100 USD But may be waived if you are a member of IBM, IMS and the Magic Café.

Dealer’s Table: 250 USD but may be paid in magic goods. If agreed in advance.

Other points to consider: - There is a special fare for the participants for the hotel accomodation in OBA Hotel ( Room Only ). You may ask for a reservation and we will do it for you at no extra charge.
-There is a wide variety of restaurants and food resources around.
- The swimming Pool is free for the Hotel guests.

- The sea is only accross the road.
We will be more than happy to answer any of your questions.

We are looking forward to seeing you here in Izmir, TURKEY

Just a couple of easy questions:

-Is there a dedicated WEBSITE (other than a social networking site) highlighting all of this information?

-How are you guys able to make any money if you waive the fee for being a Café Member or I.B.M. Member?

-How many attendees has your convention been able to boast in past years?

-Who do you have headlining/lecturing?

Hmm good questions.
Probably I may begim with the financial side. We are not making money and in this organization we have always spent more money than we have collected. Strange as it may seem this a gettogether where everybody spends ( almost). Tis is only for friendship. We make friends and we see each other. We exchange ideas. At the beginning we did it by only 14 friends and it was not planned but we enjoyed it too much-especially the sleeples nights with endless close up sessions. We wanted to repeat it again and the next time even people from abroad camne to join even we did not invite anybody. Peole wanted shows so we had added stage shows to the event and it was open to the public. The next year magic bazaar was added. And finally two years ago we also added lectures and workshops.
This year we have been a little bir earlier when compared to that of passed years. Since we are not aiming to make money over the event we decided not to charge for the communities we are in. IBM. IMS, Turkþsh Society of Magicians and The Magic Café members will not be paying for the event but will be able to make a shows or lectures if they want to. However the dealer tables will be of some price for we needed some money to hire a theater for the gala night. The hotel Lobby does not charge for the usage of the Lobby for all the other activities- they do it like a sponsor. Plus they make reduced prices for the participants to stay. For those who want to sell something and do not want to pay for it. We even considered to accept the payment in terms of the material they sell and may submit them after the gettogether with the ones they left with. In the last years we could get around 100 people plus lay people from the public to our events. we did not make a site for it for we do not want to invest money on it. Otherwise we would have to insist everybody to pay. We like to have our foreign guests to participate in the parts they would like to. Gala Shows for example, Magic bazaar and even tehy may use the open stage for dealer shows as often as they want to. Alos new effects may ee done Beta tests on openstage. Lectures and workshops will be welcomed. And since we have just annmunced this; we have two dealers fromabroad, one lecture and one stage show. And we are still taking to people.
By the way the main purpose for waiving the money for attendance is to help the cost of joning a gettogether.
I hope I may be of some help about your answers and with a brief background.
If there is anything to be clarified, please do not hesisate to ask.

I really wish I could go, I had a wonderful time performing at the festival in 2002 & getting to spend time with some really great people . I would highly recommend going to anyone, Tora is a most gracious host & a very cool guy.

If you can make it, it will be an experience you will never forget!

Mike, Thanks a lot. Whether you belive or not tonight a few hours ago our hotel manager was talking about you being a so nice guy.
Although this event is smaller in scale than that of it was in 2002, now we are more experienced.
I thank for your kind words again. I would like to see people from the Café and my offer for a real Turkish coffee is valid.
Hope to see you lots of friends from the Café.

I, too, wish I could return to Izmir. There is so much ANCIENT history still standing there and TORA is the best tour guide you could ask for. What a great trip I had in 2002. It was great performing for and working with the convention attendees as well as experiencing the gratiousness of the Turkish people.

If I could figure out google's time machine, I might be able to provide a link to the article written about the convention in the Turkish Dailey News.

Thanks for your incredible gratiousness, TORA. I wish you great success with the get-together. To anyone considering attending, you may well leave with memories which will last a lifetime. I did.

Cheers,

Tom

Dear Mike and Tom,
We have had a great convention together. Luckily enough in 2002 the festival was linked to the International Izmir Fair. After that the administration changed and we did not ask The Fair to make the magic festival together. We may do it in the future again. Who Knows ??*
Thanks for your nice words about me and Izmir.
I look forward to seeing friends from the Café.
