How nice of them to expose BOTH the Vanishing Cane AND the Dancing cane just for a cheap laugh!
The Early Bird may get the Worm, but it's the SECOND Mouse that gets the CHEESE!!!

I thought it was in bad taste to expose those two pieces of magic ... Both tricks in the right hands are beautiful works of art .I think they were trying to show the difference between "cool" magic and lame magic . So sad when the classics are put down as such ......

They could have EASILY illustrated that WITHOUT exposing ANYTHING!!!

Agreed but both effects never fooled anyone in the first place.

After his upsidedown hanging closer on his last special I can see where Blaine feels he needs to prove his magic cool and not lame.

So basicly, you two have no problems with needless exposure, huh?
I think you two are in the vast minority here then.

Blaine himself is sad thinking he needed to expose these two items to seem "Cool".
As far as I'm concerned, Blaine is mediocre to the last degree. He stands on the shoulders of greater magicians than himself using thier effects to try and carve out a name for himself. And then he exposes what he deems fit as, of course, having no real skill, he has no interest in actually perfoming those effects. Good job Mr. Blaine. Hope you feel cool. V.

Name one magician that doesn't stand on the shoulders of greater magicians.
Why are you all assuming that David had something to do with Ellen exposing the cane effects? Some intern was probably sent to Hollywood Magic and told to grab a few tricks that maybe she could do. |

If you're still using a cane in your act in 2009 you've got bigger problems than exposure.

It was making a joke at ya, Greg!
Look, I am not here to get into an argument about whether or not an item used in somone's magic act is passe or not, because I would be Guilty with most of the lines, joke & gags in MY act! Bottom line is it is my opinion, that BLATENT EXPOSURE to a lay audience of ANY Magic Trick, (good or bad, current or classic), for nothing more than a cheap laugh is just Plain WRONG!!! =Frank=
