Review: "Window" by David Stone/Jean Luc Bertrand/Michael Chatelain
UPS delivered this today to my friends house, mine is on the way and should be here on Monday. Contents: DVD Gimmick necessary for WINDOW to work. Extra little something that goes with gimmick. OK so the DVD is not long, it is around 15 min of instruction. Basically goes over the basic effect that you all saw on the demo. Gimmick is a thing of beauty, and is very well crafted. Bravo to everyone that put this gimmick together. This is by far the easiest card thru window/transposition effect beating out Ultimate CTW, KAOS, Meeting Point, and others. My favorite CTW before this was Dave Forrests CTW, but now it is Window. Dave Forrest gets #2. This can be ripped open practiced, and be performed the same afternoon. Very easy to handle and do. I will be using this, just need to get it down 100%. 10/10. Love it. Alex

Thanks for your review Alex.
Can this be performed anywhere there is a window? What is the performing venue limitations? Can be used for strolling? |

Only one question. Why the insistence of always capitalizing the D and the A when typing David or Dave? i.e. DAvid, DAve

Is the matter of deck back design an issue? Can you only perform this in Bicycles? I know that in the demo, the change can be done and the audience never really sees the back of the playing card hanging on the window so I'm wondering if this is an issue.

Keeping in mind that some types of cards have different faces as well and not just different backs. I'm assuming, based on how I think this is done (doesn't take that much brain power to figure out the only possible solution that fits the criterias if you've been in magic for a while), you can only use cards that have the same faces as Bicycles, unless you were to construct your own gaffed card for the change.

Now, if I could only figure out a way to carry a window in my pocket I'd be very interested in this! Not exactly for strolling now is it.
Sorry Alex, I was just in one of my older age nit-picking moods. It happens occasionally! ~gaffed~

Patrick,
I am in the same boat. But, why the hell would you want to go to the trouble to make that? |

I was just saying that if you were so inclined as to use cards that have different faces than bicycles, you could try making a gaff for those cards.

A question for Alex, (or anyone who knows both methods), would it possible to do the Poor Man's card through window setup using the David Stone gimmick?

I actually just tried this last night. I could not get it to work with the Poor Man set-up (which is great).

Just received Window.
I think that it is nothing short of fantastic. I've instantly found several routines that I could use it for. I'm amazed at the simplicity and cleverness. Great job which shows that the value is not in the duration of the DVD but in the brain of the creator(s). I highly recommend it to workers with a bit of imagination: there are new ways opened here. Congratulations

It's not released in Europe yet, so I've got to ask: How about the quality of the gaff?
On some places you can read that the gimmick seems to be quite bad. Right or Wrong? air |
