My chinchilla had a baby yesterday. I am sure it is either a boy or girl.

Matt, I don't mean the mother. It concerns the baby.

Mike, I think Matt knew that and was just pulling your leg Just watch the baby and see which one gives it the milk it needs.

Are Chinchillas a good replacement in a magic show, rather than having a bunny?
my partner is allergic to bunnies, so I can't own one... lol but my parents have a bunny, so each time I have a magic show, I go pick up the bunny, and use him in my show. the reaction I get from the kids, is way too good, to just eliminate the bunny from my show... are chinchillas ok to stay in a small area for a small period of time? Would they ever bite? I am a huge animal lover... and have had ALL sorts of animals growing up... Parrots, Rats, Mice, Hamsters, bunnies, Ferrets, cats, dogs, doves, finches, guinie pigs...... I can probably go on if I think harder. lol and currently I own an african grey parrot... a very one person bird... can't use him in my shows. haha anyways... back to my original question... would a chinchilla be a good subsitute for a bunny? would they behave as well as a bunny does in a show? thanks!

Yep, chinchillas are good replacements. But one important thing is to travel with them only in an air conditioned car when it is a hot day. They can die easy from heat. They do not smell bad like a rabbit. They are almost odorless. All they need for a bath is dust powder. Water can kill them if added to the outside of their body. One problem is at a show they do poop a lot if fed regular hours before the show. It is easy to train them to stay on a stand without jumping down. Chinchillas will nip a someone's finger if held in front of it's face.
Matt, if you were pulling my leg, you won. |

Thanks!
I think I'll look into it further... really does sound better than a Rabbit. the real test is... if my partner is allergic though... we'll see!! thanks for the information
