Hello,

First off I am posting here because I can not post at BHQ not being a paid member...Yet.When I can I plan on getting a membership but for now I can not afford it.

That said, I would like to Thank each and everyone of you at Bhq and here as well.I have learned an amazing amount of stuff from the site alone I'm surprised that I am able to even read some pages without a paid membership.

The amount of sharing in the balloon community is amazing much different than what I personally have experienced with the magic community.Nothing against the magic community it just has a more closed, niche type place as apposed to ballooning.Again this is my personal experience as Ive seen it.

Full speed ahead is how ballooning is for me.I can not seem to get enough of learning, trying different things coming up with a nice bag and apron I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on.Finding a local jam was and is great it is so much fun and we meet once a week WOW!( feel sorry for those with none or once a month). But I would love more jams through out the week hahah. The only hitch is I can not twist after the kids and wife are in bed, why can't we all be heavy sleepers,or have bigger houses haha.Love to build a practice/garage type thing for magic and balloons.Oh yeah ballooning has rekindled my passion for magic as well!!!I am meeting with a CBA to look into the possibility of learning decor as well!!!

Any way I ramble on.

The whole reason for the for BHQ members is I wanted to share a great idea I came up with.(Probably already done but I have yet to see it)To thank all of you for sharing some amazing ideas with me.

So I was thinking of making circle cards with a hole punched in the "top" of the card
which you would thread some ribbon through. On one side of your card you would have contact info/name etc. on the other side you could put "My name is _____" or something like that when making your creation after you finish you can play around with the kid/adult about naming the thing after making any sharpie marks you write the name they decide on the "dog tag" and now they have a named animal/sculpture and a card to go with it.Also could adopt it to b-days staple a little goodies to it or something extra.

I hope this can help some of you.I haven't tried it out yet soon though I'm trying to come up with several different cards, something that Steve Dusheck said about having specialist cards keeps ringing in my ears so I want a few different ones, one of which will be the "dog tags"

Thanks for reading and sharing,
Fudd

The cards are a good idea, except I think that it would slow me down. When I do a show, I want it to move fast. I'm always on the lookout for bits of business with the audience that will keep them interested while I'm twisting. If I'm doing line work, I don't feel that I have the time to fool around with anything that's going to slow the line up. Busking, same thing. Making the cards up also seems like a pain in the butt.
By the way, if you're looking for an inexpensive bag, get a colorful shoulder bag, line up quart sized sod bottles with the tops cut off and fill them with balloons. The one that I was using held 6 bottles. As long as the colors are contrasting, you can put 2 colors, (or even 3), in each bottle.

Fudd,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I've been busy. The dog tag/business card idea has been used before. I know that Bruce Kalver uses an application of this in his restaurant work. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Welcome to the balloon world. You will want to join BHQ when finances allow. Being able to search the photo database is worth the cost alone. When I get an idea, I'll search to see what others have done along similar lines. I may incorporate their ideas and I may not. For example, I had to do a Wall-E a couple months ago, and did a search on Wall-E on BHQ. The Wall-E I created was slightly different than any that were posted, but I did get several ideas from what had been done before, and I incorporated some of concepts used in my Wall-E.

At some point, you will want to go to one of the major conventions. These are great as well. They are kind of like your local jams but on steroids. You will learn a lot from going to a convention.

Thanks guys,

I figured the idea had been used before, but to have hope is....something not sure what but something that's for sure.I plan on going to a convention or 100 as soon as I can.Ive spent my vacation money already pre mass ballooning.Going to Blizzcon in August. And the tickets are non-refundable so Ill go there instead of balloon camp/diamond jam T_T.

Next year for sure though.

on one side and my contact info on the other

it has a small hole punched in it and you can pull the nozzel of the balloon through and it will hold

Might work if you go busking. I would not do it on a paid job, because it will slow you down. And and last but not least, they pay you to make balloons, not to make publicity for making balloons.
my opinion
