Martin left us with great memories, writings and videos of “The Charming Cheat.” One hopes the hands that perform Martin’s great card magic are worthy hands. Farewell, Martin. With warm regards, Gerald |

Anybody who watched Martin had to be inspired. He was a gentleman and consummate performer. I'll never forget the first time I saw him do his Castle Act years ago. It was absolutely amazing, the performance, the routining, everything. He will sorely be missed.

I know that Martin was ill for some time. I'll post info on funeral arrangements and such as I get them.

This is sad news indeed.
I've known Martin for a great many years and will greatly miss his friendship. Martin was not only a great magician but an awsome storyteller - he could go on for hours. R.I.P. MR. Nash.

Paul Green shared this poem that he received from Marty:
The Loser A dim light flickered above his head, Sheets are rumpled on the bed, A deck of cards clutched in his hand, He was the best *** cheat in the whole *** land, He would practice dealing both day and night, Learned every move and every sleight, Seconds, centers, bottoms, Greeks, Gamblers cops, and gamblers peeks. Never had a family, never had a wife For the way of the cheat is a lonely life. As he would silently sneak from town to town, Seek out the marks, then take them down. Now another player has joined the game. Can’t see his face, doesn’t know his name, But it’s Father Time, and he’s out to win, As he makes hands grow stiff, and the eyes grow dim. The cheat reflects on his checkered past, His time is coming he cannot last, No longer deal the cards that win, And Father Time sits back with a twisted grin. Now he’s spent every nickel, squandered every dime, So he must play the game just one more time. He tries a second; it’s just not there. He grabs a bottom, and just grabs air. Now where can he go, where can he run? The game is over, his deal is done. So he gently lies down on the bed, And puts a forty-five up to his head. A dim light flickered, and then went out. |

How sad. Martin will always be remembered as one of the greatest.
In my beginning days in magic, his work had a profound influence on me personally and no doubt many others too. His work will live on in those of us who studied his techniques and aspire to his consummate skill. A master teacher, a master magician and a gentleman. Tonight let's all raise a glass to the passing of a legend. I'm sure Marty would approve. God Bless Martin. Gerry Hennessey

Oh man.... Martin was a fine man and I really enjoyed the time I spent with him over the years and corresponding with him. He was a great talent and will be missed for both his art and his self.

He will be missed. I saw him at a lecture. I was lucky enough to be a fly on the wall with Mr Nash and other magicians after the lecture for a drink. Fantastic stores! Mr Nash was a Class Act.

I saw him lecture a couple of times and got to see him perform in his prime and he was outstanding.
A lot of knowledge and skill left the earth when Marty passed on. RIP - Hope to see you in action again some day.

Rest in peach Mr Nash. You will always be the greatest cardman.
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, none will suffice.
