Is knowing which track number you are on really an issue? I can't imagine doing a show where I wouldn't know the order of my routines... So what is the purpose of the display? If you use a live soundman, there is no one saying, "Track Three is Next." So why is it necessary when using an IPOD or other MP3 player?
Could someone give me an example when this is necessary? I know it's important to have visual confirmation of reception from the remote, but that's easy. All IPODs will backlight the screen when it receives a signal or a button is pushed. So you hit the button, the screen lights up, and the music plays. What else do you need?

Hi Guys,
I ordered my iJet nav thru amazon and got it in 4 days no problem. I suggest you guys having order problems try thru amazon. pretyman, for me it is imperative that I know what track I am on as I have 35 total tracks on my playlist and can use one at any given time. Now mind you this is for a hypnosis show and not a magic show, but I need the flexibility to change/add routines and songs on the fly. Just showing you an example of an answer to your above question. |

Ya, so Value Outfitters is not the greatest. Bottom line is this, they have been in touch with me, but I think its because they made a mistake.
Essentially I made my order on Saturday the 29th and they said it was shipped the same day; but it hasn't arrived. I emailed just wondering and they said they are going to send me a new one, because it probably wasn't processed properly or likely got lost in the mail, which translates too, we didn't send it and forgot because it was the long weekend and we will just say it was lost. I'd say less than 2% of packages actually get lost and for them to come to that conclusion after a week tells me that they were lazy or forgot. Pretty disappointed because I wanted it for this weekend and likely wont get it. Keeping my fingers crossed. |

A quick update. I received an email from someone different saying that my item has been shipped and they gave me a tracking number too. They should just supply a tracking number right away to avoid complications. Also, the person who emailed me seemed to be much more knowledged about everything.
He said it should be here this week. Here is hoping. |

Mike...the Ijet unit above does not work with the Ipod Touch either. The receiver part of the unit is too wide when plugged into the Ipod and blocks the earphone (audio out)jack. In fact, the the Ijet does control the Ipod Touch with all the coommands, you just can't plug it into your sound system.
The Ijet Nav solved this by making the receiver narrower...so you can get to the audio out jack on the Ipod Touch. Rich B. |

REGARDING VALUEOUFITTERS.COM
To be fair, I need to address something I said earlier regarding this vendor. After all the drama I went through with this provider and PayPal, finally Tim from ValueOutfitters called me. He said he did sent it to me but some how I never received it. He offered to send me the replacement via overnight service but I refused because I didn't want him to waste the money for that. He then sent Priority mail to me and I received the package today. Tim did put a few extra items in for me to compensate for the troubles. He didn't have to do that but I think they want to retain the customers so some freebee never hurt. After all, the problem was resolved and I got what I need. I paid him again via PayPal AFTER I received the replacement. Everybody happy!!! I want to post it here so in case anyone wnat to buy the remote from them, you can be sure they are OK to buy from, just make sure you email or phone them first stretching which model you want to avoid the problem I went through. Be aware that the Sound Control remote doesn't work with IPod Nanos generation 5 and above. It does, however, still work with the new versions of the IPod Classic. I found that out the hard way after purchasing an IPod Nano Generation 5. When it didn't work, I wrote to Mr. Kleefeld for advice; he was very helpful and responded immediately. Not his fault at all - Apple just keeps updating and changing their products. Apparently the newer Sound Control packages included a note explaining exactly which versions of the IPod work, but I bought my Sound Control before that was necessary. Nothing wasted, though, now my stepdaughter will be getting a IPod Nano G5 for her birthday next month, and I have a working system with IPod Classic. Although Sound Control is no longer sold, you can still purchase the exact same remotes at many places on the web, minus the extras, sound files and explanation that Mr. Kleefeld provided.

I ended up with one of the Maxell remotes that was sold in the Sound Control kit. It's unused. If anyone wants to buy it, please drop me a PM.

Does anyone know if Sound Control works with the IPad? If so, what remote would work with it as well? This may solve visibility problems for bigger shows.

I have Sound Control and my Ipod nano died reciently or at least the screen did. Now I'm trying to get the system to work with my new Itouch. The guy at Best Buy showed it working with his I touch but mine doesn't and I don't remember who helped me at the Best Buy.
Has any one had any luck getting this to work with Itouch. I really want to keep the Itouch but It's been almost 30 days of chasing a sdolution and I want a remote. I got the Apple Remote but now they say I need the Apple Universal Dock and I want to use my remote with my Happie Amp so I don't have to take 2 units for Music and Microphone. Thank you. -Mary Mowder |

Mary, the Sound Control does not work with the Touch or the most recent Nanos. (It's possible it worked with an earlier version of the Touch.) Jim Kleefeld used to have a list of which models it would work with on his website but it's no longer there. If I remember correctly, the Sound Control remote worked with Nano's up to the third generation. As an option (since it might be difficult to find a 3rd generation iPod Nano), you might want to try an iJet remote. I use them with my Nano (3rd Generation) and my Touch (3rd generation.) The people that make the iJet remotes are really good to work with. I had two of their remotes and they wouldn't control the volume of my Touch. When I contacted them about it, they said it should work. They tested their remotes with a Touch and had no issue. When I asked if they were using a 3rd generation Touch, the tech said no. So, he went out and bought one. He found the issue and modified the receiver so it would work.
Here's their website and the remote I use: http://www.buyijet.com/1-way-products/ij......ote.html You can see they list all the recent Nano, Touch and iPhone units. Michael |

With Sound Control no longer available, is there any other comparable (and comparably priced) product out there? Are products like that mentioned above (iJet) pretty much the same thing? Can the iPod still be hooked up to AC power source while using this?
I have fallen WAY behind in my tech sound knowledge (I still use CD's) so novice level info would be nice. |

Disregard previous. I see that it indicates it can charge while connected.

Michael, I have the Ijet and it will not control the volume of my Ipod Touch. You mentioned that they adjusted the unit so that it now works for you. Is this an adjustment I can make on my existing unit or do I need to buy a new one? Thanks, Andy.

Andy,
They actually sent me a replacement receiver when they figured out what Apple had changed. It took less than a week for them to isolate the issue, fix it in their receiver and send me a new one. |

Just wanted to say thanks to Michael Messing. My current system, HomeDoc, went on the fritz and I needed something new. I wrote to Jim Kleefeld and although he doesn't make his system anymore, he Very Kindly sent me some alternatives, among them was the IJET NAV. So I jumped onto the Café' and Michael was right on target with his advice. Thanks. From the reviews I saw on youtube it certainly is the way to go. The ijet nav comes with two styles of belt clips which is particularly convenient for us magicians! Only 5 buttons on the remote, not 50 so there is no confusion. I just ordered it at Buyijet.com for $25. Such a deal!! And shipping was only $2.50 ! And if you use the promo code, FRANK, you get an extra 10% off! Good grief, life is good!
