Holy.. .Sh** I was thinking. This might be overkill for a layman, but I liked it. Though the final loads could have gone in a bit quicker.
About the feather flower part... well, You did notice that you got less applause, right? |

I liked the routine. I like your loading idea too; a little bit faster and it would of been perfect.
How many people were in attendance?

It is certainly an original routine. I thank you for sharing it. I'm pretty jaded when it comes to cups and balls. I lost track of the intended effects quite often during your small ball sequence.
I've never used a servante but I did think it's presence would become apparent to even a lay audience. Personally, I think if you shortened the routine, removed some of the repeated. Trips to the same source your routine could be more magical. Again, I did appreciate your doing your own routine. I have a routine of my own on this form somewhere. You may certainly critisize my ideas in return. KG |

Hi guys,
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to comment. Roland, what a concidence, I was reading your blog yesterday. And it made me think about my pausing for applause for such a little thing as making a little ball appear. heh, heh. Sue Anne Webster told me I need to not step on my applause moments! Pete Biro: I'll admit that the rabbit production when viewed on video doesn't look like it could fool people. But it does surprise them. I know that you, magicians, can tell what is going on as it is entirely obvious to a magician. As 98% of people I perform to have never seen any magic it does take them by surprise. If they happen to have seen a kids magic show it usually ends with a fake rabbit anyway, so they are astonished at a real rabbit appearing. I researched 3 months and spent 4 weeks constructing the table in order to accomplish this. Scoff if you must but I do have precious little time, and I am not an engineer. I actually bought several rabbit bags, none of which worked as they had bulky parts which did not fit in my hat, so I ended up making my own which my rabbit fits in snugly. I do not know anyone who does the "rabbit from a hat" trick and have not seen any video of anyone pulling a rabbit from a hat. So I was quite on my own when figuring the actual details of this one out. The cover drape idea is from Tarbell. To answer Maloney's question I think there would have had about 30 people in attendance. The show was an hour long and that clip was the ending. About servante's: they are absolutely marvelous. But they can only be used in circumstances where the angle visibility can be controlled. And no one can imagine that there is such a thing as a servante. Really. They can't see behind the table so they can't figure out how you are getting things to appear. It only works though if you can sense where people are focusing on at the moment you execute the steal. I'll try to do the loads faster, too. |

I had trouble following the small ball routine as well.
If you must use the cover drape (I'd rather you didn't) showing your left hand totally destroys the effect. In addition to Kent's comments and Bill's links, I would highly recommend reading Darwin Ortiz's designing miracles. You have a lot of things going for you with regards to persona and props. The audience wants to like you. The magic need a little more clarity, and a lot more....magic. Thanks for posting.

What Josh said.
Way to big of a cloth, showing your hand kills it. Only do that when doing a gag, never when you want the magic to be maintained. And, preferably, don't use the cloth at all. There are SOOOO many ways to do rabbit from hat without covering, not only the hat, but your entire set there, from view.

The other thing I would suggest, not that you have asked, but I think it would add greatly to the scene, would be to have irrelevant props, i.e. things that you have finished using, taken off-stage by your assistant.
Excessive stage dressing draws attention from you in a negative manner. It's uncontrolled misdirection. You have some good concepts. I think they need fine tuning.

All the props on display made me think of a dealer show.
