I had to share with you guys what a librarian said to me today before my show. "That backdrop sets the perfect tone in the room. Before we even see you we feel that here's a guy who knows what he's doing and really cares about his show." first impressions....

Are you using a plain one, or one with the extra frills? - Donald

Arnie,
And if you don't mind what colors are you using? Red/black, blue/black, etc? Thanks, David |

My most common reaction with Jeff Jones' backdrop is "wow, I've never seen a real magic show before". That comes from kids and adults. It often gets a gasp from the client. Mine is red curtains with black trim and black in the center. Definitely one of my best investments.

I have comments about my set all the time - I have the smaller Jeff Jones backdrop. Folks not only love the impression that the backdrop makes, but are astonished at the speed it all goes up.
I have the pirate backdrop, you can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-QntWGsr7g The backdrop not only looks great for your audience, it also means any photos or video have a much more professional look. Doug |

I have to agree. Jeff's backdrop makes it possible for our Wiz Kid performers to include my "Vampire Levitation" (and vanish) in most of the shows they do, and the "Alternate Variation" (without vanish) that is included in the e-Book can be performed in the other few shows where overhead gym lights or sunlight make it impossible. They use the "Purple Star Curtain backdrop" that is referenced in the e-Book. You'll find the "Vampire Levitation" in The Wizards' Journal #17 on my site.

See them for yourself at Magic LIVE and KIDabra in August! Once you see these babies in action, you have to get one!

You said it right Arnie,
You only get one chance to make a first impression. I had the regular backdrop and I just upgraded to the larger one. I don't take my backdrop into b-days so I wasn't worried about space requirements with the large one but it is BEAUTIFUL. I bought the blue with the stars on it. Definitely worth all the dough, in fact, I think he should be charging more for these.

I do like mine, but he should change his tripods. I had to change mine to one of my lighting stands. You really should have the hole and pins on the main center rod b/c the "gripper" stopped gripping after only a few shows.

I have the large backdrop with red side curtains and black swags, Black velvet mirrored center curtain. Never had trouble with the tripod. Mine came with the holes and pins but I never use them. The large one can bend to fit in the smallest house birthday or spread out on a large stage.

Anyone know if it is possible to swap out different backdrops on the same support stand/frame system?

You can change the swag colors with velcro but the rest is sewn to the frame. It weights about 15-20 lbs. Set up time is one minute.

[/quote] I wear black and its not a problem. The curtain is a velvet and the mirrors give depth. Black velvet is deeper than black pants fabric so you'll stand out.

My wife Pam and I have used ours in as small a setting as living rooms, and as large as a procennium stage. We love our Jeff Jones large black mirrored backdrop with red curtains and gold trim. To steal a famous advertising line, "It's everywhere we want to be!"

You guys are just trying to get me to buy one of the large ones, right? I have the regular size and love it but now I feel inadequate.
