I have a rarely if ever used Large Driebeck Die. I would like to sell it but I can't value it as I don't see any for sale on any web sites.

Does anyone know what this item may be worth?

If you could PM me I would appreciate it.

Thanks

John

A little negative: I bought one in the mid 80's , new from a supplier for $100.00. I didn't think it was worth that.(my opinion) It's just a trick box. I'm amazed at some of the outrageous prices charged on many magic props , gadgets etc.(some good , but many just c--p.) I attended a lecture once , the lecturer commented to the local magic dealer prior to the event ,"I don't have much of anything left to sell". The dealers response was "don't worry , their magicans , they'll buy anything". I'll probably get fried for this post , I guess I'm a little jaded.

For anyone who thinks this is overpriced, you should see what Jack Goldfinger does with it in his stage show. For him and with his showmanship, it is worth every penny...

Magic has to be shown to be appreciated. I found through numerous presentation in from of various audiences that it is for the more educated audiences, such as bankers, engineers, accountants, etc. I have found it does not go as well or at all when shown to other or children audiences.

That was my experience with the Driebeek Die trick.

I LOVED this box but never performed it. Terry Elton's routine is fantastic.

I hope the gentlemen that purchased mine will put it to good use.

I agree completely! , it's in the presentation not the piece of plastic. Which I don't feel is a $300.00 prop'. (in my humble opinion.)

Opinion, everyone has one. Driebeek Die, not.

Nala, you DO have a right to an opinion and yours being a praticular item isn't worth the money is one of them. BUT, I'll bet if we looked thru your magic collection each of us could find things that aren't worth the money.

The DIE is a piece of plastic. BUT, there's not a lot of them around. Not many manufacturers make them. They are hard to get. So, if someone falls in love with one, as I did at a dealer demo, then you must pay what the market bears.

You know the old saying, One mans JUNK is another man's treasure!

That's why the Café's sell and trade section is so popular. This month I sold over $600 worth of magic I no linger used and realized I was never going to use. I bought stuff that I always wanted.

Cheers,

I purchased one from Stevens a month or so back and am getting ready to present it for the first time this weekend at a holiday party for about 50 people. I am curious as to what the reaction from the audience will be as it is a somewhat awkward prop to present. I have shown it to a few people one on one who have been puzzled by it, but definitely not amazed or mystified.
Does anybody know of any links to performance videos of Kaps, Caveney or goldfinger using the Direbeck Die?

As it would be nice to view other professional performances, it would not be good to borrow any part of their presentation. If it is not on YouTube I would imagine they do not exist.

If you have the original instructions, I think it is best to study the handling, as this is what sells the effect. There are also some patter ideas included that will get you started thinking of some patter to include.

As far as reaction, see my post above on this. Reactions are gasps, laughter, wonder, and lots of applause. If you do not get these reactions, you are showing to the wrong audiencees.

It is spelled Driebeck. I don't know if it is the same one you are all talking about, but Stevens magic has one for about $95.00
Didn't your mother ever tell you not to believe anything you hear and only half of what you see?

I have worked out my own patter in accordance with the puzzle theme of my show but was hoping to see some other ideas and performances if they were available just for the viewing pleasure of an effect that is seldom seen. Not looking to borrow anyone elses ideas by any means.
