Theres a lot of great comedy writers here online. Maybe Pete Biro will chime in and give you some ideas. Comedy magic is a particular interest of mine and the funnier the better. I'll watch your thread with interest.

I know Pete Biro comes out with great magic ideas and props. Is he a comedy writer too?

Yes, Pete wrote much of the show Mayhem when I worked for Amazing Johnathan and Kozak in Las Vegas. He is also a very funny comedy magician in his own right.

Thanks pete, I have added them on facebook and will find out what they can do for me. I think gabe might have worked on letterman too?

do you know if they have ever written for magic before? Its hard to figure out where people find these writers, off the streets, comedy clubs.

But is there a differance between a comedy writer, and a comedian? I wonder if any comedian would write comedy or if its just specific comedy writers that write comedy.

Mike did you even look at Paul web site, the book I mention was written by comedian Hal Spear.
If any of those effects are what your looking for you can save some money in hiring a comedy writer.
Yes comedians write comedy mainly there own, a comedy writer is a gun for hire who writes comedy for a comedian and often are comedians themselves. One such gun here on the Café goes by the Café name of Comedy Writer..

Let me give you some advise though, I have worked with a comedy writer in the past, you should make sure if you hire one they know magic... Just my two cents!! and hopefully it will save you more then two.

Yes I did look at paul's site, and am probably going to buy the book just because it might be of help, But the reason I was looking for a comedy writer is so that instead of going out and spending money on new props or custom props or other stuff.

I can take the routines and tricks I already have and make them better, eventually over time I want to have not original tricks but routines. I just think instead of changing my show, why not make it better by improving things, and adding some humor to make it my own.

If you can get help from a pro comedy writer, go for it. There's one more reason that Leno and Letterman are on top and Carson - great writers.

There are one or two comedy writers who specialize in writing for variety acts - jugglers, magicians, vents, etc. You'll get ownership of custom material that works for you and that audiences will remember. Let me try and remember their names...

PS I'll think of it in a bit here...

Your link for some reason dosen't work for me, it comes up as being:

"Error.Page cannot be displayed. Please contact service provider for more details."

I am going to look around for a while untill I can find someone who is really good, and I am not going to request stuff to be done over night, or in a week, but for a base script to be done, then refined, and refined, because everything can be improved.

I also came accross this guy: http://www.comedy-writer.com/index.html

Thanks,
