Hi everybody !
I MC/DJ wedding event for many years. I will do my 100th in August 15th. Each year, I try do add something new. This year, I've add "magic". In first, I want to do magic at table during diner time and make older people and kids have fun. At the end of the dinner, I want to do a little show (+/-25 minutes). This was 3 month ago. After reading a lot of post at Magic Café, after buying some DVD's, Book, Trick, I can now tell I've a really big success !!!! The most important thing I've learn is : Trick is 10% of the magic !! My best part of my magic show is : After doing 2 different card tricks, I try to find someone who seems to be septical. I ask his name, ask a card of his choice, and tell him to stand up and take a look at his chair .... When he saw nothing, I tell "It would have been so cool if I succeed this one !!" and then I have the biggest laugh of my show ! While I'm not a "real" magician just here to do a show, because I'm the MC, I have a big "friendship" with guests. Often, I ear some guest tell me they think they know how I do a trick or move, I answer "C'mon, I'm not David Coperfield !" Having the second big laugh !! So, I do a show with 6 trick (4 cards trick, Rope routine, Coke Bottle vanish) and people really enjoy !! My biggest upset is people of 25-35 years old enjoy more than older or kids !! May be we miss some magician in my area, but I receive greats comment from these people. I'm proud to tell you I've succeed to build a 30 minutes show with only 6 tricks, in less than 4 months with your help !! Thanks ! |

If you have learned to listen to your audience you are far ahead of the game. You deserve to be proud -- the trick is to never let it show.

It is possible to perform for kids and adults at the same time. It's like watching a Jim Carrey movie: some of the laughs are directed at the little ones, and some things go right over their heads. The Little Darlings section of the Café has lots of threads addressing the unique skills involved in engaging children and keeping them focused and excited by your performance. It seems to me that you are well on your way to being a "real" magician!
