THE AD:
Cameron Francis strikes again with a workhorse of a packet trick! An astonishing three phase routine that packs a wallop and is incredibly easy to do! Effect: The magician removes a small packet of Jokers. “These Jokers may look like normal cards but they are actually incredible magicians!” he claims. The Jokers are placed aside and the spectator selects a card. We'll say it's the Queen of Diamonds. The card is left face down on the table. The magician shows that there are three Jokers in the packet and one blank card. “This card is a canvas on which the Jokers will write a divination.” The packet is waved over the face down selection. When the magician runs through the cards, there is now writing on the blank card: a Q and a diamond! “The Jokers tell me you picked the Queen of Diamonds. Turn it over so we can confirm it.” The spectator turns the card over. It is the blank card with the Q and diamond drawn on it! Somehow the magician is now holding the real Queen of Diamonds! Like I said, the Jokers are incredible magicians. And if I give the packet one final twist, they perform their greatest feat yet!” The magician twists the packet and deals the cards on the table. The other three cards are now the mates of the Queen of Diamonds! Bonus Effect Included! - Easy To Do! - Instant Reset - 10 page illustrated PDF ------------------------------ MY REVIEW: Basically, Ryan Swigert's "Kickback" with a twist. Personally, I found it to be in the same vein of some Peter Duffie's e-tricks. What I personnally like is that the focus is not on the switch anymore but on the four queens. Then, generally when cards change into other cards, they are supposed to be ordinary and you have to replace them into the deck. Here, it's logical to place them back into your pocket. So even if they're not examinable, this is not a big problem for me. Plus, the spec's drawn selection can be kept as a souvenir which is the most important thing to me. I don't have any "pro" experience but I think if the spectator can keep a "magical" card or his signed selection as a souvenir, he's less tempted to examine the other cards as he has already one in his hands. The bonus effect is ALMOST the same trick, done with ordinary cards. So, even if you don't have the required faked cards yet, you may perform this one which is also very cool. The handling looks very basic (this is not a flaw!) but the drawings make the effect visually appealing and more magical to me than any other card switch. Sold for 10$ but for the moment it is still only 7$. A demo is available on youtube. As always, what you see is what you get so, thanks to Cameron for that.

Thanks for the review. I love this trick. One of those things that I bring with me to every gig. It resets instantly and you don't need a table. It's not magician fooler but it fires lay people!
It was difficult to demo on video. The transposition is far more stunning when performed in person.

Thanks again Cameron for releasing another fun and effective packet trick! The special price was a great incentive - but actually if you have even one of Cameron's effects, you wont hesitate to get thme all as I've done!
Aldo Colombini used to be my favorite source for packet tricks 9and his $10 DVDs are great value), but for sheer innovation and ease of performance, yours are excellent too! My personal favorites so far have been What it isn't; TCP and Big Cheat. But I have a sneaky feeling Sketchers will be right up there! Looking forward to your next release as well as the Dvae Forrest collaborative DVD! |

Thanks, man! I know packet tricks are not hip (very un-Ellusionist) but I love them. And lay people do too.
Speaking of Aldo, I might be making a "special appearance" on one of his upcoming dvds.., be on the lookout for it!

About the Colombini dvd, will it be an original trick or a trick he previously released through his web?
I can't wait to see it anyway. As much as him performing one or two of my tricks for future dvd releases, as he told me. That will be weird I guess. :-S

It will probably be a previously unreleased effect. Not sure at the moment.
Zoiya, thanks for the kind words!

I totally agree - direct, simple to follow, visually stunning! It has fast become one of my strolling favorites - together with TCP and Out of Order (yup! You guessed it - more products of Cameron Francis' fertile and frisky mind!)

I've posted many times that I am an out-of-the-closet fan of good fun and easy packet tricks. That's really all I want a packet trick to be and this is no exception.
SKETCHERS is easy to make, fun to learn with good reactions and an immediate reset to clean up and either put away or repeat without needing any quiet time alone. This is a packet trick that has a real nice 1-2 punch that is as fun to watch as it is to perform. Bonus variation included to boot. SKETCHERS has some herbs and spices that remind me of Chad Long's NOW LOOK HERE and R. Wilson's RICHOCHET in one effect. Great value as well. Nice job Cameron. Mark me down as a SKETCHERS fan. peace, charlie |

Just an FYI to all of you who have this, I have a new version which I will be sending out to all who have purchased it. It's basically the same routine, but it uses different gaffs (standard gaffs, no gluing this time!) I will also be selling it as a packet trick complete with cards on the site.
The new version will also be on the site soon. I personally think it's now a better trick and a bit more fun.
