Dear Magic Community,
Does anyone have any information about an effect titled "Braco's Floating Glass Sphere"? One of the worst reviewed effects I have ever read about in the Magic Café is "Braco's Floating Ball" but from the description this is completely different. Here is the link where I found it: http://www.royaltmagic.com/stage.php I wonder if anyone has any information about this effect. The description makes it sound promising. Any word about it? John |

I think most people cringe at the word "Braco" in the title.

Most will agree with what's already been said about Braco, but if you want to test the water go for it.

It says
"You need to make an extra purchase at your local hardware store to complete the set-up" Glad it says hardware store otherwise I was thinking of soap bubble formula |

Has anyone tried this yet. I realize the "Braco Floating Ball" was a bust. Could this one be better?

The ball can float upwards and several feet away! The routine is constructed to avoid repetitious choreography. All phases are clear, precise and build up to a beautiful and graceful finale. - A large and completely transparent ball floats into any direction! - The floating ball can stand still or move into different directions while you move on stage. We supply you with the very special transparent 6.3" (16 cm) ball, fully illustrated detailed manuscript and special gimmick. First of all, its not glass, no, its plastic, so why should they call it a glass sphere and not say anywhere in the advertisement that it is plastic. That was my first disappointment, for it was not cheap. Second is that it has a rather obvious seem, I wish that they had made it look a little better, but on stage I am sure it is fine.” |

Based on this description it sounds like its creator is staying true to form....

Hey folks, old post but I figured, I would put my 2 cents in. We've had it in the shop, never set one up. Just a big plastic ball, thread & instructions. Looks like something NO ONE would ever do. BUT...I recall seeing silver floating ball effects on TV as child that I loved watching.
I always assumed this effect had off stage handlers making it work. Finally, we decided to set one up in the shop. 1. the seam in the ball is not visible as the seam is perpendicular to the audience. 2. while it is plastic, your audience doesn't know that and could easily believe its a crystal or glass ball. (the silver balls are supposed to be heavy solid metal balls right? 3. its a one man operation and is not only easy to control, its easy to set up. You will need the proper conditions to perform it in, but isn't a lot of great magic suited to correct situations? The effect looks amazing and I haven't had the feeling of watching real magic in ages... I have always lover the Zombie, Dancing Cane and various close up & stage levitations. If it looked this brilliant to me, imagine what it will do to your audience?! My advice, if you have a stage (or back drop to work on) the right low lighting, music and 6-8 feet minimum distance, you have a shop stopper! |
