Not sure where to post this, but I've been asked to emcee for a relative's wedding. What are a few good tricks that play well in this setting?

Hindu thread routines with a patter line explain that a good marriage is made of many parts and when they all come to gather they have a strong thread to hold their marriage. It sounds bad but people love it. I was round a friend house after him an his wife got back from honey moon both close families were there and I did this. The two mothers loved a auntie cried. The thread was put in the photo album.

Thanks for your idea Yellowcustard. I'll revisit Dragon Thread.
Charliemagic, not sure how to tie in Baby Gag to couple. I thought Baby Gag was magi asking spec to think of any famous celebrity and when I turn photo around, it's pic of a baby stating, "This is what they look like as a baby." As an emcee I think I will be playing more to the audience. Keeping them slightly entertained while bride & groom gets ready, greets guests, bride changes outfits, etc. I haven't accepted to be emcee, but if I do, I want to see if I can add a little levity during the slow time. |

It's somewhere in the "junk" drawer.

How about Mobius strips/Afgan Bands using wide ribbon.
Cut one set-up talk about leaving one family to actually become one larger family. Cut another set-up talk about not the leaving of the single life but the binding together of two lives, or two seperate lives (loops) bound together for ever. Never to be seperated - vanish the sissors (don't know how but having it change to glitter may get a nice "Ahhh" moment)(or even break the scissors apart) |

I did one years ago at a wedding. She ties one rope nto a lopp, he tied the other. Mysteriously they became forever joined. Standard linking ropes.

Love the Mobius Strip idea Nornb! Thanks for sharing. I could use ribbons from the wedding. Could be a souvenir.
Linking ropes also a good idea, RLFrame. I'm afraid I don't know how to perform that though. Where might I find info on that? |

The Mobius strips idea is really smart -- have to remember that one. It's not a trick I've ever wanted to perform, but it's perfect for the occasion.

Lawrence O has given away my complete wedding party/rehearsal/dinner/reception repertoire!
I must comment, though, on "Garrett Thomas Anniversary Waltz" (corrected spelling). Is this now being associated with Garrett Thomas? (Garrett is a friend and there are none better in the field of close-up and restaurant work!) However, the Anniversary Waltz was originally published and marketed by me with the original inspiration "Cold Fusion" by Chris Carter (published in the Linking Ring and reprinted with permission) and Doc Eason's "Anniversary Waltz." Doc was the one who developed the routine for a couple and named his version Anniversary Waltz. After the first two printings sold out (rather quickly), Doc obtained the full rights to Anniversary Waltz from me and I believe his still holds them. This info provided strictly in the interest of historical accuracy, no drama intended.
