No, we're talking about the Michael Jackson WOW.

Why would anyone want to sell WOW? it's one of the most brilliant things ever invented. That thing it's just terrific.

The reason most people sell is because they cannot come up with a good enough justification for the item, as it does look like a prop.
Paul has solved this, especially with the case that holds the Wow gimmick itself. Very clever. Although Ustaad does sort of say it, the trick that Frank first stated as 'Photo Cell' actually uses Card Mirage by Ton Osaka. His routine for the WOW gimmick by Masuda is Digital Dreams. I prefer Photo Cell, and have the Card Mirage gimmicks in my close up case, so will now be using this Photo Cell routine as I think it is brilliant. Digital Dreams is a nice routine that I would do as a one off, but not from table to table. If you have the Ton Osaka gimmick, seriously consider checking this out. Yes the WOW gimmick can potentially do the same thing, I think it would scream gimmick if you used just this one card. Paul has structured it well with the Card Mirage gimmick, and they even get to examine everything at the end |

You have very nicely put forward your thoughts Christopher. Very well said.
I do realize I was a bit harsh when I penned my thoughts.

I don't know why you should justify the fact that you are using a prop. Are you able to justify most of the material you use on the shows? Probably not. If you are going to worry about that you'll have to justify your "powers" and justify the sponge balls, the chinese rings, the mystery box and even the decks of cards. Everything is props. Even you are a "prop" to the spectators - they know what you are doing is not real. Either using wow or any deck of cards.

You don't have to 'justify' everything but it helps!
I mean if you use sponge balls, mystery box or the 'Wow' gimmick it can make your performence more compelling and interesting if you have something interesting to call your props.Tom stone has an interesting name for his Wow gimmick in an ebook of his for when people might ask ''What on earth is that?

Paul's idea is great. I highly suggest getting the lecture DVD. He also has a nice Conus Ace routine on his DVD.

Just a thought for anyone who likes the Wow gimmick effect (Digital Dreams), just an idea...remember you can get a blank Masuda now?? Well, when you put the card in the gimmick, and have it face down in front of them, the deck turns blank etc...ask them what card was inside, then you can turn the gimmick over and show it has turned blank as well, whilst in the gimmick, which is a strong effect by itself, before dreaming of their card inside revealing it...tada!
Enjoy |

Just placed my order at Paul's site for both his lecture DVD's. I can't wait to see this handling. Thanks for letting me know about this.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Gertner and seeing him perform on Stage this past weekend at The California Magic Dinner Theatre here in Martinez, Ca:
http://calmagic.com/ His performance was absolutely FANTASTIC! He did an amazing "Phil Deck" type of presentation that had a twist ending that took my head off! He was on his way from one lecture to Magic Live so he had some DVD's of his Lecture Notes with him. I picked up both his Close-Up & his Stage notes. Being a long time fan of Masuda's "WOW", I have to tell you that Digital Dreams is a great routine for the WOW gimmick. I have to highly reccommend it and both of the Lecture Notes. Check them out, you won't be sorry... Thanks, Hank |

The Photo Cell routine sounds great and I would love to check it out.
But just to clarify, which gimmick do I actually need in order to perform the Photo Cell routine? Some say that it's actually the Ton Onosaka - Mirage Cards that are needed for the Photo Cell routine? Others say it's the Masuda WOW gimmicked needed for the Photo Cell routine? On Paul Gernter's website: http://www.paulgertnermagic.com/merchandise.html He is selling the Masuda WOW gimmick only and it states that the Masuda WOW gimmick is the one used for BOTH his Digital Dreams & Photo Cell routine. Not sure which one I actually need to buy? |
