Good afternoon Ladies
Kay here out in Stockton Ca. extending an invite to the Odd Gathering.
For those of you located in the California Bay Area, Next April I will be putting on the Odd Gathering again. Our focus this year is a bit Sideshow / Carnival oriented.

Please do not let the Bizarrist angle put you off, we are open to all genre's of magic and performance arts. It would be nice to have a few more women attend, Last year there were only three of us. The format is a bit loose so that we can respond better to the needs and wants of the participants.
We do have an Iron Magician contest, and this year a new "Plastic Magician" contest that can be worked on ahead of time.

I am seeing that there are a few folks located in the greater bay area, and I want to extend the invite and let you know that we are out here
.
You can look at information from last year at the website in my signature below, just go to the venues button and click Odd Gathering.

I have tried very hard to keep the gathering under 100$, not easy, but I set aside some extra to make it happen regardless of attendance. With luck I can break even this year!

I want to say that the Gathering, while Odd, is very friendly and open.
I for one (as a woman, and the organizer) would like to see more women attend.

We have a Works in progress session that gives feedback and much helpful and supportive information if you are trying to round out or tune up a piece. We will video your piece, and only YOU get the cop[y, complete with feedback session so you have the whole thing documented for future work and use.

We have make and take sessions for building props or other items.
We have some good lectures on theatrics, not just mechanics.
We have great presentations from folks sharing parts of their show, there is opportunity to chat, pick brains, and learn/share with people in a supportive and as non-threatening an environment as we can provide- the fundamentalist preacher fellow last year int he lobby was a bonus to some......definitely not planned on my part!
I also provide plenty of decent snacking food, not just junk, in the hospitality room so you do not have to spend a lot on food while you are with us.
If you have ever been to a magic convention before, this is not it....we are small and friendly and odds are you will learn everyone's name by the end of the weekend!
So, if you might be at all interested, please check the venues button on the signature website below, and go see some of what we did last year, and check out what is up for this next April 2010.

We are still gearing up for the gathering, and I wanted to give this a bump for those who might be interested. Still only $75 to attend for the weekend.
The hotel has given us a room rate discount, and you DO get to have a full breakfast each morning with them, though there are other hotels/motels in the area if there are budget considerations.
