I met Michael Skinner in 1997 at The Golden Nugget Casino with Alan Alan.
Michael Skinner would provide me with the same thrills that Larry Jennings and Derek Dingle did years before. After our meal at The Lily Langtry, Michael joined our table and treated us to a 30 minute virtuoso performance of magic and conversation which was truly memorable. His performance consisted of: Dr Saks Dice Routine The Torn and Restored Cigarette Paper Paul Rosini's Thimble Routine Oil and Water Spectator Cuts The Aces Open Travellers Four Ace Assembly and a Sam the bellhop type routine..... Rub-a-Dub -Dub Three Men in a Tub Cups and Balls What I remember most about Michael Skinner was his gentle demeanor and steely assurance when handling his props. His kind and gracious manner is legendary to anyone who remembers seeing him in his life time. Michael taught me about technical excellence combined with aesthetics, grace and a serene majesty in delivery. I didn't realize it at that time but that would be my one and only time I would see this legend of magic alive. I met Michael Skinner, Larry Jennings, Derek Dingle and Martin A Nash only once but they all marked me for life. My story is short, sweet and too the point but a part of Michael Skinner lives on in me. Any stories to share, most welcomed Mike Click here to view attached image.

Actually, I've always said that Mike Vincent is the British Mike Skinner:
Great chops, elegant style and a winning personality.
Whenever I find myself gripping anything too tightly I just ask myself "How would Guy Hollingworth hold this?"

I had the pleasure of knowing Mike Skinner. In fact, Michael is the person who personally taught me the Faro Shuffle.
Michael was one of the most kind and knowledgable magicians I have ever known. Always willing to share and was just an all around genuine nice guy. If I had to compare him to anyone it would be the movie star James Stewart - the personality and easy going manner was a big part of both these entertainers. One of the biggest pieces of advice that Michael ever gave me was when he said; "Steve, there is a world of difference between the tricks you perform for lay people and the stuff you do for the guys". I've never forgotten that. Thanks for sharing Michael.
