Hey guys, I'm really excited because I just hit my 6th month as a balloon twister, Just so you guys have a better idea of how far down the road I am. I first started off with a dvd called balloon school, I feel that that dvd got me off to a good start as in getting the technique and basics down. Then I moved onto the don caldwells dvd. so far I have vol 1 and 2. which has so much material that I am still working on. and also I also have ken stillmans's super hero vol 1. Almost every night I am busting out my balloon bag and trying to master the sculptures from these dvds. I can safely say I am addicted to making balloons just as much as I am with magic now but maybe just a little more with magic.
In magic I consider there are certain names that are the most influential to almost everyone. For example like vernon,Garcia,mcbride,Ammar..... As I am fairly new to the balloon world I was just wondering who are the big names in the balloon business. I looked around and found names like caldwell,Grist, dewey but I would love to learn more about these people. Also my most important question here is there a volume set of balloon dvds that should be in everyones balloon library (if there is such a thing). For example in card magic The "Michael Ammar ETMCM vol 1-9). Something that will start off easy all the way down to the advance. I'm not sure about this but "balloon gineering vol 1-6" seems to be somewhere along the line of what I'm talking about. |

Sign up for Balloon Magic Magazine. Its a quarterly mag for about 7 bucks an issue. Look for any local or close balloon jams in your area. When you have the spare money get a BalloonHq.com member ship.As is, you can access many parts of the site without membership, though many more options are available once you become a full member.
These things have helped inspire me and help me grow in the art. I haven't bought any dvd's yet just balloon jams and a 8-9 balloon books 3 of which are in Italian.Though the dvds that seem to be must haves are Don Caldwells dvds,Grists,Bad to the balloon series.... |

For me, the ultimate balloon modeling course is David Grist's DVDs. He made 9 before he passed away, and this week at Diamond Jam they are releasing a tribute DVD that has sculptures inspired by David and his work from many of the top names in the industry.
David's collected works, for me, are like The Tarbell Course in Magic for balloon artists. They are hard to find right now, but they will be available more widely in the next few weeks from http://DiamondStorm.com and should also be available from http://Tmyers.com soon.

Thanks for all your information. I looked at the qualatex website and found the balloon magic magazine. It seems like the only way to order is to print out their form and mail it in. Is there like a online form to order?
As for the david grist dvd. I would love to check them out once they are available. Do you have a idea of the price range of the set or for a separate dvd? |

Well according to the record books John Cassidy is one of the best. I could not agree more. John puts a lot of play in his balloons, so much it is scary (literally).
Anothe man that I have mad respect and admiration for it Addi Somekh. He is the one who went around the world making balloon hats. I was about to give up ballooning before I say his work. I thought that I had reached my max in creativity. There are only so many times you can make something before you grow tired of it. Addi opened me up to rhythm in balloons and a elegance that I had not seen before. It was the simplicity of the design and letting the balloons show themselves. Brilliant. As always, Dylan |

I second John Cassidy as the best ballon guy out there, and one of the funniest acts I've ever seen...
