No problem. You can find the idea in Richard Marks' book Mind Warp or he sells it separately for about five bucks... Hank Lee carries it. Don't be shocked when you see it because some people have already heard of this method. I was there the first time he presented it and it was completely new at the time. Some have taken credit for it, but I think they are misinformed about the source. I have offered my help to anyone that wants once they get it. I have a bit of techniques and subtleties that help improve the displays and bends. I love it and never go out without it, but actually I'm always prepared because it is something we all have and 80% I don't even have to pull it out to do the effect. You'll see what I mean once you get it.

In response to this thread, I suggest that you contact Lee earle and buy a copy of MIND WARP by Richard Mark. It has the key warper in Chapter 1. The rest of the book is very good, too. All mentalism. Richard is a very good thinker and I think you will enjoy the book if you get it.
Lee Earle can be contacted at: leee7@aol.com Yes there are 3 e's in the email address.. No I don't know why. Best regards, Tony Razzano

The best and more practise system of key bending is "KEY WARPER" of Richard Mark.
I use, since 1975, this methodology in all my presentations of mentalism of closeup in Brazil. It is perfect!!!! I not use the gimmick original, only the keys of the public...

Absolutely agree with you, Kardini. I don't even know what happened to the original that came with my Key Warper. Most of the time I just end up using the keys supplied because you can always find what you need in a handful of keys. Incidentally, I put this in a PM, but for anyone using the method here is a bit of a secret: If you are given those aluminum keys that are usually bright orange, blue, red or other colors, well... if you do the bend quickly and sharply and with some force, they tend to snap in two instead of bend. You can't count on it, but it happens from time to time. When this happens hide it and keep the pieces to do a weird bend that ends with the pieces falling apart. You'll have two pieces that have a clean cut. It looks very weird and is worth experimenting with these type keys.

I have noticed that not many people want you to bend their keys. For some strange reason, they care about their keys, especially the ones that start their cars and opens the door to their house. (please excuse sarcasm) Many years a go I was on a working holiday in Australia working for a sales company. The sales agents used to get together at nights. I used to bend all their keys, house keys, BMW keys, any key they gave me. The thing is they completely beleived I had this ability and treated me like some kind of Messiah. It got round the company and soon I was bending keys all day from different members of staff. This went on for weeks I don't know how many people couldn't get into their cars or into their homes it really was unblelevable.( I was really young at the time don't recommend you bend valuable keys) After a few weeks I confessed that I had used a "trick" to a few of the agents although I didn't tell them how i did it. It was really funny to have other agents come up to me and tell me that the ones I told "weren't true believers. I would just say thats right they aren't just ignore them with a straight face. I never got caught out, I never used a gimmick. I never bent a key while anyone was looking at my hand. I always used misdirection when i made the bend. I had all of the room trying to bend a key at the same time. Saying that it seems to work better when everyone is trying to bend a key. There were plenty opportunities to misdirect them and there were always a few who who thought they had "slghtly" bent their key, esp if it was an old one. Suggestive language also helped to get them to imagine "something was happening". I don't do key bending these days. It was one of those phases I was going thru |

I've had many people not be able to get into their cars or houses. Before I start the bending I ask them if it is a valuable key. Once I bend one key everyone else starts to hand me keys... whether important or not. I feel as long as you tell them in advance you're covered. I've heard some interesting stories from individuals who did give me an important key.

I have an idea of how the bend works for key warper. What exactly is in the book (as far as just the key warper technique goes) that's not in the individual sale?

I will hate myself for letting this out, but there is an outstanding key routine from a source the majority of mentalists would never think to check, i.e., one of the best coinmen in the world, Dave Neighbors.
A few of us know that Dave is also interested in mentalism, is a member of the Psi Clones, and has developed some outstanding routines that are not generally known in mentalism circles. In his 1993 lecture notes, DAVE NEIGHBORS STANDS UP, he has a terrific key bending routine called Bent Out of Shape. In the routine, you bend a key selected by a spectator, then a second key, and then you give your spectator the power to bend a third key. As usual with Dave's work there are sublties that make the routine one your audience will not forget. It is a favorit of mine. I checked with Dave and he still has copies of the notes for sale. Of course the notes also contain coin routines. For $14 including S&H you cannot go wrong. For more information on ordering, contact Dave at coinjurer@cs.com or go to stumagic.com/coinjurer/catalog for a description.

Thanks Lee,
A funny story, I did the routine for a metro state college psychology class, and as Lee said, the last key bends in a female spectator's hand. The next day as they were talking about it in class, the lady just knew that I had to have real powers, because maybe I could have done something tricky with the keys I bent in my hands, but there was no way I could have bent a key that was in her hand when I was not touching it. So I had to have the power! I was not in the class the next day and found this out from a friend who was taking the class! So I know the ending is that strong, and when I do it now, it always kills! Thanks! P.S. Lee, You forgot the html! So it's http://www.stumagic.com/Coinjure/Catalog.html Best, David Neighbors The Coinjurer |

Hi all,
In my opinion one of the best books on bending metal in general is as has already been mentioned "Gellerism Revealed" by Ben Harris. In the book Ben discribes a method he uses utilizing a gimmick he calls the natural key gimmick. Could anybody who uses the Keywarper advise me is this the same idea (it sounds like it) I have been using the Harris gimmick for some time but after the previous posts I now want to see the Keywarper but don't want to send to the States if it is the same sort of system. Thanks Scott |

Just a wee note of interest (to me, probably!) November 1973. I was aged 17 when Uri Geller appeared on BBC tv in the UK bending keys. By December I had worked out my own system, and happily bent - and broke - a friend's house key at a Xmas party. This meant he had to knock up his parents at 2.30am to get in. Further to this, somebody who was at that party, and hasn't seen me for some time, met my mother and asked what I was up to these days. "Bending keys" she replied. "Oh, he was doing that YEARS ago."... first she's heard of it! (Though it explains the bent cutlery canteen) You'll always get caught out, you know! Anyway, there you go... December 21, 1973. other than Geller - anybody been doing it longer than me?)

"Science: Good, Bad, and Bogus" by Martin Gardner has some good accounts of how Geller and others fooled scientists. As you probably know, they're not the most difficult people to fool.

Like Scott I'd like to know if the "Key Warper" is the same as the gimmick in "Gellerism Revealed", which I believe was first detailed by James Randi in his book, "The Magic of Uri Geller".

Yes, the "Key Warper" is the same basic idea as what Ben details, although the particulars of the handling differ.
