I don't have it. Don't know anything about it. But here's two things I do know:
1. Asi is one of the finest magicians ON THE PLANET. He has only released two other things in the past- Chapter 1 and Time is Money, and both are KILLER. I would bet good money this is an awesome product. 2. I've seen Asi perform this routine, and was fooled bad. I had no idea there was a book switch- non at all. Ben

Hey Everyone,
I just attended Asi's lecture last night and I literally ran to the front of the room at the end of the lecture to buy this. According to Asi, he has just sold out of his first batch - and for a good reason. The gimmick is INCREDIBLY well made, and the DVD has one of the highest production values that I have ever seen. I've seen Asi perform this many times in the past, and it always fooled me badly. I strongly believe this will be a reputation maker and I am extremely exited to perform this! |

Hi All,
Asi did an excellent lecture at myplace last night. The routine with Switcher is a killer and so deceptive. It is also incredibly well made and comes with a fantastic teaching DVD. Lots of attention to detail. I was one of the lucky ones to buy one of the last 6 he had from the first batch. I recommend you order one so that you can get one fo the first of the second batch now being produced. Marc |

I've had Asi Wind's "Book Switcher" for a few days now, and wanted to post my impressions.
First off, I absolutely love this thing; which falls into the category of "why didn't I think of this?!?!?!" This is an example of a release that's the perfect combination of a) a well conceived and beautifully designed gaff and b) an excellent instructional DVD, that offers several strong full routines, while leaving the door open to the many additional ideas that the premise lends itself to. First, the premise (which I will not describe, so as to protect the secret). It's simple, easy to perform (but like anything, a little practice will go a long way), and, as mentioned - opens the door to a world of routine ideas and opportunities. I can't emphasizes enough that with Book Switcher, you're not only buying several complete killer routines, but a method and device that allows for endless creativity. Note to Asi: ***For this reason, this is truly an idea that should have a dedicated owner's forum*** While the gaff is something that you could probably create yourself, what you get is beautifully and professionally produced and should last a very long time. And like everything in this package, the attention to detail in the gaff is superb. In fact you will get a chuckle when you first inspect it (closely). Next, the instructional DVD. Aside from some minor main Menu criticisms (I initially found things a little too 'eye candy'/busy at the cost of being frustrating to navigate), this is one of the best Instructional DVDs I've ever seen. The detail in each routine, emphasized with effective and efficient use of post-production effects, should set the standard for instructional DVDs. Asi's explanations and presentational tone, are both superb. Finally, the routines. While some mentalists may dismiss the routine that Asi refers to as his favorite, categorizing it as more of a mental-magic piece, it is an absolutely magnificent routine that is reminiscent of Pegasus Page/The Sough Of Horses' Wings - but (in my view - having performed both source routines) even stronger! This routine will make you smile, and it alone, is worth more the price of the entire package! There are a few other included ideas/routine, at least one of which I will most certainly perform. I should also mention the included Interview segment. Very cute; I'll leave it at that! Bottom-line, Asi Wind's Book Switcher may be the single most promising purchase I've made in 2008, and those who know me know that I've made a lot of purchases this year! |

Thanks for the review, Eric.
A question for you: Is a table required for the book switch?

You do not need a table to perform the book switch itself, but a table (or at least some place to place all the books) is required. If your question is directly relating to the method, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further, but I believe I have answered your question. Of course, it is possible that someone may have an alternate handling or suggestion that would allow this to be done without a table - in a gravity-free environment, for instance (should you get a gig on the space station), but a table is generally the best place I can think of to put stuff! Hope that makes sense. |

Yes, you could perform the routine, but you would need to 'manage' the selection process, somewhat carefully. There is certainly a 'custom' solution, but as I don't want to give anything away (method), I suggest you contact Asi directly for a more detailed answer. |

All that needs to be said is that if you have a routine involving more than two books in which it would be advantageous to be able to switch a gimmicked book (of typical paperback size) for an ungimmicked duplicate -- as has already been mentioned, any of what I call "resurrected page" effects (e.g., "Whim of Tituba," "Zarkamorta," "Pegasus Page," etc.) are ideal candidates -- Asi's "Switcher" provides the ideal way to do it -- right in front of spectators and or participating audience members -- without being detected.
