Has anyone used extreme burn, 3D cash, two dollar window, 5-1 transpo, greed, fraud, wonderland bill, etc. for your audition at Magic Castle?
I have over 25 bill tricks and I've narrowed it down to these 7 tricks that gives me the best reactions and I can perform them naturally. I've read that it's preferred that we should avoid using gimmicks in the audition but I just wanted to know if anyone that passed used paper money magic in your audition. Let me know which bill tricks you've used to audition and which one you've left out and why? |

I had extreme burn with me as a follow-on trick, but didn't get to it... (patter line was about "having the membership fee right here..."
Gimmicks are ok, but the tricks should involve sleight of hand, though it can be simple. You're not trying to impress or fool anyone, but just demonstrating that you can competently perform a non-self-working trick. -Rob |

Attitude and personality with magic you can do without errors or showing fear are the keys.

I recently passed my audition and I agree with Pete and rtj. It's not what effect you do, it's how well you do it, how comfortable you are, and growth since you started magic.
Let's say you're doing cards, they want to see that you are comfortable holding and working with cards, more than the effect - my opinion. But also you probably won't be passed by doing an effect straight from the book, even if it's perfect. I took a packet card effect, built it into a deck, and added some IT work at the end. None of the skills were spectacular, but my understanding was that I handled teh sleights well enough, and showed some work had been put into it. |
