For help in this area, get a copy of the book "Magic and Showmanship" by Henning Nelms. It's a fairly cheep paperback, by Dover publishing. It's worth its weight in gold, in my opinion.

Thanks David, I've ordered a copy.

"Illusion Show Know-how" by Ken Griffin and Roberta (available Abbotts ? and/or google - or - books forum?? -and Wife and self picture '1956' in it) we were assistants for Ken & Bert, for a season - learned a lot and a lot in the book, on almost everything. Ralph(russo)Rousseau.

I already own this as it was one if the first magic books I bought, along with Royal Road and the Fitzkee Trilogy. And 13 Steps to Mentalism!
All the old often-recommended foundation-building books! And I don't regret a single one of them. Albeit they are now very dated, they hold some invaluable information inside, even now it holds true and brings wisdom.

How are you finding the book then, Kong? Smile
Have you gleaned much in the way of education from it? Enjoying the book? Smile Smile

Thank you Russo Smile, for sharing this book with us.Smile I will have a look into it and most likely purchase it at some point.Smile
Much obliged. Smile
Here are some working links to take anyone who wants to, right to the best, best bargain priced good quality book site prices to get the book second hand...or new if it comes up now and then in new condition. (It may not always undercut Amazon, although most times it does [Hooray! I can avoid that ***ed site now Smile] but even when it doesn't manage to, it ALWAYS beats Amazon on ethics).Smile
The mystery I speak of is ... no mystery really, just a great book site!

"You cannot BUY a TRICK.
TRICKS, somewhat like music, only exist while they are being PERFORMED.
An EFFECT cannot be BOUGHT either. An EFFECT is what the spectator perceives.
You need to read FITZKEE. --There are only nineteen EFFECTS"
