Don't know why I'm posting this in "Not very magical, still...," since this IS very magical!
First, The Ambassadors of Harmony, the chorus that won Gold this past summer at the Barbershop Harmony Society's international competition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmDGntpZC3I&feature=related Second, Crossroads, the quartet that won Gold: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7mGjSZpdpk The director of The Ambassadors, Jim Henry, is the bass in Crossroads. The quartet that steps in front of the change curtain (in the first video) is a previous Gold-meda-winning quartet, Vocal Spectrum, much loved by the barbershop crowd (as witnessed by the applause they get for the poorly miked line they sing.) The audio/video doesn't quite capture the power and magic of these singers. If you ever get a chance to hear them live.... I'll bet there are serious barbershop singers in our Café crowd. Please identify yourselves. I'm relatively new to this scene...as a fan, not a singer! Saw the competition this past summer (via webcast) and was blown away by the many talented groups that competed. Thanks for the memories Stan.
I was Tenor in a Barbershop Quartet my senior year in high school. I still remember our warm up tune "The Old Songs" ah, I love to hear those minor chords. Iven
