This was announced for pre-order by Peter at Alakazam.
Teaser trailer & subject matter look perfect for upcoming spook season, but the trailer is just that: a teaser. Anyone have any info as to what the effect is? |

Oh yes!
Jim performed this for us at last years "Gathering" in Edinburgh, using my partner. About a dozen old photographs are used in a psychic experiment, with the spectator slowly zoning down on one. A match is found in an envelope which has been in the spectator's possession all along. It turns out that there was something dark about the couple that were selected... The beauty of this effect is Jim's scripting and participant management, as well as the time & effect to get a set atmospheric wedding photos. I for one throrughly enjoyed it and indeed have been performing a version of my own after Jim kindly shared this with us. I would be eargerly anticipating this. Steve

Peter -- WHY do you insist on using Microsoft Silverlight to show videos on your site? PLEASE use Flash or some other non-Microsoft proprietary technology. You really limit your audience.

Neither the video nor the text for the ad does anything to elucidate what "'Til Death do us Part" is really about. Will there be some sort of explanation that would aid me in determining if this is something I could use?

I also thought that the trailer showed us almost nothing.
This seems to be a trend especially on more bizzare or spooky items/websites. Having said that I have it on pre-order because I was on the brink of buying Whitestar and I read a review that said this was even better. I realise some people want to know as much as possible before parting with cash. I, for one, am happy to take a chance. If it's not suitabble for me then it won't be the first thing I've bought and not used. |

I have ordered this. I believe the ending is more mysterious. The photo of the couple chosen by the spectator is ripped in half by the spectator, then one half is ripped in half again. When the envelope is opened it exactly matches the 'couple' and the rips made with the man in the photo's head removed.(if that makes sense!)

I bought it. It is a very strong effect that packs in quite a lot of Psychology.
I have performed it as per instructions and using my own ending. In both cases the effect is strong and the story is good. For those that do Table Hopping it is not for them. This effect will achieve best result done in front of few seating around a table. I love it. It suits my way of thinking and there is very little to carry. However, one picture is destroyed during each and every performance but if you have a resonable Scanner/Printer and good quality printing paper you have no worries. Alakazam gives you enough for 10 performances and without a good quality Scanner Printer you will have to order new photographs when you are done with the supplies. Cheers for now Roni |

I have been wanting to get White Star. Saving up for it.
For those that have WS and/or TDDUP. Or know about each enough to comment. Would it work to do each back to back? Maybe do one and then 30 min. later do the other? I am not a professional, but am curious if this would work or if you would want to even do that? I know when I perform for friends/family/kids, they almost always ask for more. I know I could do many other things after/before. And don't worry, I wouldn't even thonk of doing these for kids... I am just throwing ideas/thought out there. Any thoughts/suggestions/comments? Thanks! Mike Newman |

This is a great trick..i have performed it 3 times and gotten good results..the trick is technically easy to do..but it helps the better you tell a story and you can make this quite spooky..the props are good quality and a nice dvd to help..i give this a 8.5 out of 10

I bought this but I'm honestly not thrilled with it. It will immediately become apparent why a demo of the affect itself isn't shown. The instructional DVD is one of the most tedious things I've ever watched. Even the people they performed this for gave lackluster reactions although they explained that the affects were performed "cold" as in this was the only trick they saw and weren't warmed up. The script and props are new but the secret definitely isn't. With that being said I think this will work for the right performer but you'd have to bring more energy than Jim did in his video. I thought Mark's performance was better as he kept it flowing smoother.

Hi all,
Just found this thread & just had to comment. I was recently in the UK on tour with my good friend Christopher Taylor. When we lectured in Sheffield we were honored to have Jim in the audience. Now I have to profess to never having seen any of Jim's effects before & was not familiar with him personally (although Christopher certainly was). On the night in question Jim gave Christopher a copy of "Till Death Do Us part". After the evening was over I got to asking Christopher what the effect was. Christopher was a little vague as he had not seen it for a while but I was intrigued so I picked up a copy of the effect. I have to say (& I have no link to Alakazam or Jim) that this is one of the best effects I have had the pleasure of performing for quite some time! It is really really good!!!!! Many that know me know that I do not buy magic very often as I am a creator & for the most part create & use my own effects, however I am sure glad that I picked up this little beauty. I do have to disagree with Roni & say that this is perfectly suited for strolling situations. Most of my work is as a strolling performer for corporate events & this works a teat! All I have to do is replace one photo & I am done. I performed this effect 5 times in a row at an event a few nights ago in a private home with only about 20 people in attendance & it went over great. People who saw the effect over & over again were just as bewildered as I mentioned the line "I don't know why but happens the same every single time, it's like a bad recurring nightmare!". I should mention that I was a little skeptical of the method after watching the DVD but upon first performance I realized what a gem this was & just how POWERFUL this effect is on my audience. I also have to mention that during the picture selection process I nail it every single time, I am now 6 for 6 (those that own it will know what I am talking about), the odds are starting to creep me out a little bit! The psychological subtleties involved on the DVD work great. Combine this with my easy going performance style when I perform this effect & it makes for a killer combination. Jim, thank you for a great effect & I look forward to viewing some of your other material. I am just sorry that I did not get a chance to chat to you at Sheffield....it was a busy night! Hopefully next time. Cheers, Matt Johnson |
