I Received this DVD today. It is well produced and the boys throw in some humor to keep you awake. It will cost you more then $20 if you count your time and expense of running around to find all the stuff you need to make the Card Fountain. It is crude in appearance, but the only one that will/should see it is you.
You will have to have some tools like the following: various size drill bits, a drill, a soldering Iron, solder, pliers, plus knowledge how to use the tools. If you do not own these then this will be added to the expense of construction of this prop. Do not solder like the is shown on the video. Clearly, he does not know about soldering wires together. This is a push-button card fountain, no remote control, no spring tension on the cards. He uses the old standby, the rubber band. I like the start and stop action the button gives you, but you will have to set the fountain off with your own hands or have an assistant control the flow of cards. This will be a big drawback for many that want it all for $20, but if there is sequel to the DVD, maybe a remote would be a good idea along with a spring action for tension on the motor. If you cannot afford one of the pricey model on the market, then this is a good alternative to having a card fountain. I have not made it yet, but will definitely do so in the near future. I like this sort of thing, making magic props. I recommend this DIY DVD as it gets right to the point and gives complete information on the products used, shows them in their packages as they come from the hardware store, close-ups that you can read the item number from the manufacturer. They even give some alternate alternatives to the building process. |
