The use of black art makes it VERY hard to distinguish the shape of this "shield" when looking up from underneath. Plus, even if someone sees some kind of circular thing under the table, it doensn't really give any clue as to the workings. I've used mine on stage, and in a parlour setting, and have had kids AND ADULTS rolling underr the table, to try to see what's holding it up. So far, not one person has ever seen the "works". Potty |

I agree Potty, the fact that the carpet is dark under there and all the stuff is black works fine. The worst case senario is that the length of the carpet or fringe needs to be increased. Potty you said your carpet has some side to side movement, do you have any horizontal (not vertical) angle problems?

There are no angles with my version, it can be performed surrounded. However, I prefer not to have spectators behind me, as I feel there is a little something which is suspicious....

We experienced several of the above issues when we began manufacturing our own version. I didn't like the screen coming straight back - so we modified it so the screen comes back and to one side. This way the audience can see almost all the way thru the back and it is quite convincing. Our gimmick is extruded aluminum and not as heavy but still has the weight capacity other versions offer. We make these in house and just recently redesigned the screen - a Christmas version will be out within the next week. The screen is designed to look like a Christmas package..perfectly gimmicked so it will pull back and appear as if it was just a 'box' holding up the platform. Instead of swords we are using jumbo candy canes to hold up. On the platform along with the screen box will be other small packages - and when the illusion is finished - one of the boxes can have a small gift for the person helping out. We think it is a neat illusion - we use wing nuts to make easier to tear down and assemble. We make our own swords as well. Our screens are covered in cloth and you can easily modify your own screen too. It holds up better and doesn't scratch - they are more durable - just simply remove the rivets from your old screen and cover with fabric of your choice and then pop rivet back. Plus, you don't have the unsightly felt at the bottom which to me is a giveaway.

Rick it was a close call, it was up for sale and I see you caught it in time before it disappeared.

I got a notice to purchase this domain, and thought it would be wrong to do so. Just wanted you to take notice that it was being offered to me and I don't know how many others. I have friends who lost domains because they did not renew in a timely manner.

Before long, all the really valuable domains will have been snapped up - but at the moment, there are a LOT of great titles still untaken! Doug |
