The ad: "A novel piece of close-up magic which will bring you a different ‘twist’ on a classic theme. Four cards are selected and placed on the table. You show four face-down cards and one at a time one card turns over and it reveals one of the selected cards. At the end, each chosen card is revealed. You have two endings, one a very strong transposition where the black cards melt with the red ones; in the second finale you reveal that the four cards have backs on both sides! Complete with special cards (use any deck). $10.00"
Available on wildcolombini.com The description may give away some parts of the method if you're used to card magic. ;-) Nevertheless I've designed the routine so the handling allows you to casually show "ordinary" cards all along the performance using very subtle convincers yet easy to do. The second finale comes from Aldo's mind and allows you to reset instantly. The original finale is the best if you want to give the cards as a strong souvenir as from the spectator's pov, they are in an "altered state". If you prefer to keep the cards, the reset is not instant yet very fast. I think this is the first trick I've ever created so it is a bit special to me. Here's the original cover for T&W when I was planning to sell it as a PDF (before my hard drive crashed with all my files...) http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8463/twistwaltzbf0.jpg

Has any credit been given to Bob Farmer for his Mutantz effect? I haven't seen yours, but from reading the description there is some similarities.

I don't think so, as twisting the aces and anniversary waltz are the routines that inspired me, as much as Peter Duffie's Thunderstruck. Mutantz is mostly inspired by Cascade. So the effects are pretty different. Eventually, you have the fact that gaffed cards are considered as "weird cards" but this was also the case in Anniversary Waltz. If you know Aldo's material, you will notice that he never hesitates to credit people when necessary.

It's nothing like Mutanz. Its a twisting the aces/selected cards revelation. It gets a mention in passing in my upcoming book on packet tricks. It's interesting.
Re."I think this is the first trick I've ever created so it is a bit special to me." And so it should be Raphael, and to get the first rffect you created marketed is pretty good. Paul. |

Cool, as I haven't seen the trick I really don't know, I was just asking.
If Paul mentions it in his book, it must have some new value, congrats.

Thanks Paul.
Yeah I've been pretty lucky on this first try. Obviously I haven't mentioned the ten following tricks that will never be published. ;-)

I bought this from Aldo and really like doing it.
Raphael came up with a nice approach. It's great being able to get a single trick DVD like this for only $10. Well worth it.
