Anyone heard of "Masters Magicians Guild"? http://mastermagiciansguild.com/index.ph......temid=59 It claims to be better than Phillip & Henry and Gigmasters. I saw nothing to lose, so I signed up with them.

I signed up as well, but never received as response. So as of this date, no different than the other two.

I received an email earlier this week that said that they were inundated with magicians signing up and it will take them a little time to sort through all the performers.

They may be great, but at least to my eyes, the website is totally unreadable, and the contact form is essentially unusable -- where are the data entry fields?
Regardless of what you think about Gigmasters, but from a design standpoint, their website is way friendlier. So my basic point is this -- what else are they doing to promote magicians? Because as an event planner, I would stop here, give a quick glance, and not come back. --Jack

Not only that..
they don't seem to get much traffic based on the fact that they have such a low google saturation Didn't check to see if they do PPC yet.. I'm starting to think that a few of us from here should team up build a site that doesn't take a cut but charges for listings and get something that RANKS and generates TARGETED Traffic
its ok.. balloon dogs don't bite

Hi,
as I understand it, it is a person from "us", who was thinking to start something. your idea is good as well, but is not going in the same direction, as it is over there. your idea seems to have a portal, where people can subscribe and other poelpe can find you over there, like there are a quite few more. everyone will find it, can search for their needs - that´s o.k. and can work very well. my understanding from that "master magicians guild" is, that it is different, after it made it out of the baby shoes. they just try to be an "good old time" agency of the new generation, that is exectly the other way around, as this unpersonal websites where people just find together. this seems to become much more service orientated, more human. as I already said, the idea sounds pretty well. let´s support it and let´s make it grow, instead of making it small and throwing it into the garbadge, before it started to walk. c´mon! rené |

Hi Everyone,
This would probably be a good time to chime in. I'm Michael Carducci and I'm the founder of the Master Magicians Guild. First, to everyone who has submitted their application, thank you. What we're doing is so much more than simply creating another agency, or another directory. We're completely changing the landscape. The page that DynaMike kindly linked to is a high level overview of what we're doing but, as always, the devil is in the details. If you've submitted an application, you'll receive an email sometime tomorrow detailing exactly how we are going to do everything we've promised. Steven, you're in our database. I've sent you a PM to confirm your email address. Jack, Thank you for your feedback; I've passed your comments on to our designer. Mike, When our talent pool is finalized we're going to throw the switch, leveraging the most powerful online marketing platform on the planet as well as giving our sales team the go-ahead to start generating leads offline. There will be much more detail in the email that's going out tomorrow but the bottom line is we will be everywhere and targeted. Thanks guys, we'll be in touch soon. Michael Carducci |

Hi Michael,
From all the posts I've read from you, I know you're a class act. Please accept my feedback as constructive -- I spent years working at Microsoft and other companies as an online project manager and getting the usability details right is very much a nit-picky thing with me. Having the best service and product on the planet matters not if your targeted prospect doesn't have the patience to stick with your website. Jakob Nielsen has been a great source of counsel on usability for years. Here's a link to his website: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20030825.html All my best wishes to you in your efforts! --Jack

If you have received THE e-mail, what do YOU think of the fees, and how do you think the MG would get you business in your area of the country?

I'm curious about that too. I was kind of thinking there would be some sort of vetting process so that they represented a range of talents and price ranges. But I was left with the feeling that those that would be represented would be whom ever signed up first.
For those prices I'd like more information on the marketing format (other that the web presense) and who my peers/competition are in my region and demographic. To truly be a co-op, I would want a very open format. Just my two cents worth. |

Well, very ambivalent about this. Didn't think there would be "FEES". A traditional agent takes a "CUT". Their promo was, "We will only take the BEST!". The email says...."Act now before they are all gone".
Seems they are a very High Priced Gigmaster. Not saying anything bad about Gigmaster, I've had tremendous success with them the last 7 weeks once I tightened up my process. I do wonder if they actually did "Pre-qualification within each market or if Everyone who responded got the Invite?? For the amount they seem to be charging you could BLANKET your market especially at the high end. At least that's my opinion.

To me it seems like a sales-pitch verse an agency. I don't understand why one has to pay a higher monthly fee to get the higher gigs if their act commands such. Also, are they taking a cut from the fee plus the monthly fee?
Most websites that are directory of entertainers such as Gigsalad or Gigmasters charge a SMALL yearly fee to be listed. I.E. cost of advertisement and not being rap by a so call agency. I am sure they will do fine, once the platform is established.
