What is disturbing is that 2 days ago as I was in the check out line, a tabloid in bold letters wrote "Patrick heads home to die." How terrible.

I was down in Cancun Mexico several years ago and met and hung out with a friend of Patrick's from HS (even showed me the year book pics). He said "Buddy" (nickname growing up) was one of the most genuine guys he'd ever known!
I honestly can't think of anything I've seen him in that I didn't like! |

RIP. Mr Swayze and his family are in our prayers.
Red Dawn is being re-made. Tom Cruise's son is cast in it.
Peace

I met Patrick in New Orleans a few years ago in Jackson Square. He had just finished taping the final scene of a flick and was still in costume, and there was a crowd all around asking for autographs and pix. I stood just out of camera range and we had a nice conversation while the rest of the crowd fought for space next to him.
This went on for maybe 20 minutes, until he had met the majority of the crowd. I was also impressed that his entourage stayed well back, and not once did they try to interrupt. Finally Patrick said goodbye to the crowd and came over to shake my hand. He said it was nice meet his fans, but to actually talk to someone that didn't ask for anything in return was special. I said I did want something in return, that I would like to spar him. He laughed and said his agent and insurance carrier would never allow it. He bowed politely and gave me a shoulder squeeze and drove away. RIP Patrick. |

Ghost was about the only thing he did that I really liked. However, he was a class act in his personal conduct. I don't remember seeing anything about him being arrested or doing something stupid like so many other 'celebrities' do. Also, he was married to the same woman since 1975 - a major accomplishment not only for a celebrity but for anyone these days.
We need more like him, but I don't see it happening.

"Roadhouse" was on a week or so ago and although somewhat hokey in parts the cast includes Swayze, Sam Elliott and one of the greatest guitarists ever Jeff Healey! The blond doctor/girl friend (can't recall her name) was sure easy on the eyes so pretty fair cast overall IMO!
As mentioned, he had a long term marriage and as far as I know was never tabloid fodder so pretty dang impressive I'd say! |

A couple of other really cool movies Swayze is in:
1) Donnie Darko...cult classic, and deservedly so. This is a great movie. Funny, creepy, clever, great dialogue, and well-acted. Great performances, particularly by relatively young cast members, e.g. Jake Gyllenhal and Jena Malone. Aside from Swayze, Drew Barrymore is in there, too. Also includes a really good cover of Tears for Fears's "Mad World." 2) 11:14 Sleeper movie that I had never heard of...it came on cable at random, and I left it on. Crime drama/comedy with some laugh-out-loud moments and a bunch of side stories that intersect...at 11:14. Also has Hillary Swank.
