I recently got hired to do walk-around for a grand opening at a mens clothing store. They plan to have a grand opening pretty big with drink mixers,dj, and models. the owner was a good client of mine so of course I had to say yes. while this is my first time ever HEARING of someone working at an event like this I'm BLANK on effects. I mean I'm plan on doing my basica walk-around stuff, but the part I'm blank on is I want to use stuff in the store. Like maybe using a jacket for something or I don't know. the clothing they have there is very dressy, theres dress shrits, blazers, slacks, t-shirts, so a bunch of stuff. if anyone has any ideas on stuff I can use in the store or an effect to promote the clothing sold in the store.

I don't see why you would need to use anything in the store. You could use the store name in a card trick. Tim Ellis has a great card trick that would be good for this. I would also make sure you are dressed well.

Hope it goes well.

When you work in a restaurant, do you do "effects" with the spectators' food? No, of course not. You might do something with a saltshaker or something like that. You don't need to do tricks with their jackets, neckties, or anything else in the store.

Work up a repertoire, get good at it and figure out how to make it fit your environment.

Wow what an opportunity. A perfect situation to preload playing cards in pockets
of sport coats shirts. Nate Kranzo has a great effect using a tie on one of his DVD's. If you can force a card you got some real miracles in a clothing store.
How about pocket handkerchiefs? You can do card through silk and some coin work.

Get there early or before hand and walk around the store. Take note of what is on display and then incorporate what you already do to include those items. Will there be accessories like cuff links and tie pins etc.? Do some vanishes (ROV)
retention of vision vanishes. Just put your thinking cap on.
Good luck and have fun!

Just do what you would normally do

no need to add effects if you have a work act already
when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth

This is such an important point I want to be sure it isn't missed. If you try to come up with new ideas related to the venue you will be constantly doing new material which is not a good thing.
