I asked a teller at my bank about getting sequential bills. I was told that I could do so near Christmas, when they order in new money. I could not get any that day.

I had no idea there was a season for money.

Is this a small bank thing, or is this something I would face at a large bank too?

I couldn't get any at my local banks either....so I posted a looking for thread in the Tricks for Trade section and another Café member sold me some for face value plus shipping. You might try that if you cant find them anywhere.

I even get them from self check outs from supermarkets. Should not be hard to find.

I've found them three of the five times I've asked--just try another bank, or check in on them again next week. Probably they do try to keep up more of a stock around the holidays, because a lot of people ask for crisp bills then, but they're definitely getting in fresh bills all the time.

That's what I thought. I could not imagine that banks only get fresh currency once a year. I will check around.

Try your local supermarkets too.. You would be surprised.

Very often, the little mini branches at the front of supermarkets will have them. The way I get mine is to call the main downtown branch of all the big banks (where the main vaults are). Either one of them will have them, or they will know which branch does. Sometimes its easier for them to understand what you're looking for if you ask for "bundles of new bills."

In going through my fathers (Cards by Martin) estate today I found an envelope labeled "Sequential & Same Serial Numbers". Further investigation revealed 15-20 $1 bills as described. They initially appeared real and I'm glad he had them labeled. I hear passing counterfeit bills garners some unwanted federal attention.

Perhaps Xmas just came early. As I am not in the business, perhaps someone could give me some insight as to what this item should sell for, and if anyone here might be interested in aquiring them, or some part thereof.

It is only a violation of the law if the bills are tampered with in a way that makes it impossible to spend them. The bills you have most likely have had the serial numbers "doctored" which does not violate that law. Unfortunately for you, they are only worth their face value.

There's gotta be a way around this. Maybe try max krause I think he has a lot of bill knowledge. i'VE BEEN told that he's got the best serial number effect ever released.
