How would you feel about a patter in which certain adjectives and verbs were left and then random ones were drawn from a hat, to add a la improv. I could see this as becoming very funny and adding to the interest of the routine.

Donnie,
Just remember that the best improv is very carefully scripted, just as the best impromptu comics are very carefully rehearsed. |

I love the idea of having word cards or billets mixed by the spectator. You introduce it saying that you like to live on the edge and at the end of each sentence (or some other cue) you will take the next card from the hat and it will be the next word you say, no questions asked. I would switch their mixed billets/cards for mine in a predetermined order arranged to maximize the humor. I think you could play it like a Sam the Bellhop or Who Killed Lily Longlegs where you are obviously taxed by the event, but come out a big winner.

But Peter, this is magic.... just "improv" using a Switch Bag/Hat for the word cards...
Come to think of it, this idea's pretty good...

There is a marketed game called "Mad Libs" that is based on this idea. It uses a script with spaces calling for a verb, a noun, or whatever part of speech will work at that point. The words to fill in the story are chosen before the script is read.
This can be quite amusing although it plays better in bars than at AA meetings. It seems to me that forcing the "correct" words misses the whole point. Sid
All the world's a stage ... and everybody on it is overacting.
