I received the update and saw this very cool self-lighting flash paper! Why did I not think of this practical method?! I can finally throw away the stupid electronic TT that's not reliable at all...
Check it out guys, most will immediately understand how practical it is. I just read through the article, lots of great ideas are given to produce about anything. It's the second video at http://www.smproductionz.com . The Dual thing.. |

Self lighting? Practical? Not in my opinion.
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

Just checked it out. It's very smart to use a lighter. At least there's no 'match pull' before you light the object. And most importantly, it's VERY cheap and unlike most unreliable electronic devises that are expensive.

I too just read the article. Using a lighter that we can get just about anywhere is a great idea. In the article it says that the technique was designed to produce objects with flash paper without having to introduce fire source like match or lighter. The lighter will be sleeved immediately after lighting up the flash paper and is never introduced place. I see a lot of potential in this. It's such a simple and practical idea that I'll be using for sure.

That is a really nice idea!! I've already start brainstorming some ideas and tricks with this. The first one came to my mind is to combine this with David Stone's no-smoking routine, and also for my opener at the bar I'm currently working at!!! Nice job, keep up the good work!!

Wow, I was surprised when I see a lighter is produced, and then it brings a smile on my face. I see many possibility with this concept, and it solves a problem I have in one of my routine that I'm currently working on. By the way, has anyone tried all kinds of lighter and knows which kind of lighter works the best?? Because I can't find the same type of lighter as demonstrated in the video.

I hate to say this, but me and two of my buddies own Pyrofreak... it ended up in our drawers. The prop has parts that needed to be replace, and just from my experience, it is somewhat unreliable... maybe it's just the units we received, didn't work most of the time. I love other products by Jim and own most of them. I am fire addicted. But this one I didn't like it so much.

I believe this is already published somewhere... by me, as III (Invisible Impromptu Ignition), I'll have to double-check.

Hi guys, thanks for the great comments, and I'm glad most of you guys liked it. I developed this technique a couple years ago because I wanted a practical method to secretly light the flash paper. I love Jim Pace's "Igniter", but I wanted to come up something that's without body attachement. Also, as a worker, I believe in pack small plays big, and that's why I developed this technique so I can have multipul use of the lighter. I hope this clears it up and thanks again for the great feedbacks.

This is so great! This might be the end of a long search. I also own PyroFreak, and I've had the same experience. When it works it's incredible, but after the first time that it decided not to work in public, I decided that it wasn't worth the trouble. This might just so it. I wonder about the "click" though. I'll have to check it out. Thank you, G.

Just saw your message. The self-lighting flash paper was something I contributed in the SM Charity project. It was available for the SM members for free. It's included in one of my lecture note as well as DVD, but not as a product for the public. However, I am sure if you contact SM and let them know I refer you, they'll be able to arrange that for you.
