Afternoon everybody,
I've recently had some new business cards designed, and it started me thinking about good effects that end up with either a business card someone would want to keep as a souvenir, or an effect that just naturally leads to the handing over of a card. Can anyone recommend some good effects that fit the bill? Rob |

See Michael Ammar's Self Printing Business card. I believe he has different name for it in the Magic of Michael Ammar

Casanova Inc. is fantastic from Paul Harris's T/A.
Also Constellation.

Was it Doug Bennett who came up with a way to cause a signed coin to wind up actually inside a business card?
That wasn't "Business Merger," was it? |

"Business Merger" is a T&R corner effect with a business card. "Fire Trap" is a vanished coin to reappear sealed in a matchbook cover/business card. Doug Henning did "Fire Trap" on the Johnny Carson show. Both effects by Doug Bennett.

With a simple nw routine or doing pw with a business card you can give the spectator a true miracle. As an opener it can be quick and to the point at the same time it hits hard and not only do you now have there full attention but they have your business card Also this n that works great, if you have a group you could hand out all four business cards at the end.

When I got my business cards I ordered two sets. one of the sets was a normal business card of mine. The other set I designed one so that a had 4 smaller ones on the same size as an average business card so lets say my normal business card that I hand out was 2x4 I made 4 1x2 and told my company to print 4 of them out on a 2x4 so I was able to cut out 4 smaller ones with scissors later on. So when I hand them out I show them the small card then spellbound change it to the regular size one. (Kind of like a jumbo coin routine in a way)

Sneak Thief, Living and Dead Test, Osterlind's watch routine (different peek), a hot read with a full card peek ... list goes on forever. Anything where they can write something down can be turned into a good reason for them to keep your business card. Mentalism hits more emotionally than magic. If you want them to keep your card and have a greater chance of actually calling you, tie giving it away with emotion. I also would not try to give out a business card in my opening routine. That's too "sales pitch man" for me. I save it for my closer and make it a very personal and meaningful experience.

You can do the haunted pack with business cards. I believe it's on Ammar's busness card DVD, which has some of the other effects mentioned here.

I have had a prediction written down on the back of a business card for a mem deck ACAAN effect (memdeck left with first person, who gives a number, force the corresponding card from deck in play to person 2, write down number and card, stating that the card was thought of..).
After a short set, come back to the prediction / revelation, and wow! (I have only tried this a few times so far though, but great reactions). The business card is only used as a notepad initially, but after a few effects, with this as almost an afterthought closer, it is a good motivator to keep the card.. Inspired by the great ACAAN routine on Michael Vincent's Rhapsodies in Silver (not yet tried in performance). Charlie |

Also one I do all the time is Assertive Positive Negative by Scott Guinn. All you need is a business card and a pen.

One I forgot to mention that I alway do is a picture dupelication. It always hits hard when presented right. Try and get them to draw something that means something to them, They'll never forget this experience.
