When I reset it I like to put a card or business card between the M****t and chip.
It won't damage the paint when there's a buffer.
Black and White surprise is the best one. It's the original. I've had mine since about 1995.

Yes, Black and white surprise is terrific. To avoid the possibility of scratching the chips I have been using a small piece of scotch tape to lift the chip. Thanks for the Per Clausen name. It has been years ago and I couldn't recall the name of the maker. Also have their Prediction Chip which is also good 'chip' magic.

There was also a very beautiful rendition created by Eddie Gibson called Checkmate where black and white chips become checkered on both sides. I carry both in my close-up bag and alternate them accordingly depending on my audiences. Women and children absolutely love the color changes.

I have 2 sets of these, because I luv 'em!
But .... and that's just my 2 cents .... the second set was altered (re-built) to change from colored chips to b/w chips.

So whenever I do the classic transition from b/w to colored; there were some specs who asked how I could repeat this.
So with a quick pocket change I take the (2nd - colored) set and do a colored to b/w transition.

I carry both sets in these business card holders made from (black) aluminium; they are inside foamed with cut-outs for the 2 chips.

Oooops; I just realized that I did the same post on page 1 of this thread - 12 years ago!!!
Gosh, I'm gettin' old.

Question maybe someone will answer.

Bought a used version and the inserts keep falling out. That is before they are switched to the colors. So as I move my hands there is a chance that they come out. Anybody have a problem with this or a way to fix it?

Thanks

That is how the trick is supposed to work Smile

Do you have the instructions???

I do not have them anymore but the best made sets have a nice tight fit after the colors change.

I have a set of these from 20 years ago or so not used them for many years I will have to dig them out.And saysold1 is right "the inserts have to be loose till the trick is competed". The set I have is very good, will try and remember where I got them from.

Sadly, all good things must inevitably come to an end. Evidently, the classic Black & White Surprise by Per Clausen from Denmark has become collectable and somewhat scarce as available quantities have finally been depleted from what I can surmise. I just ordered my third set because these were among the finest ever manufactured along with the late great Eddie Gibson’s chips. One of the greatest close-up effects ever invented. Angle proof, aesthetically pleasing and extremely visual. Per Clausen also created Chip & Coin Monte, Clausen Chips, Dizzy Chips Deluxe, Echec etc Mat, Holey Chip Miracle, Mirror Chips, Prediction Chips, and Traffic Chip.

A British 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 rendition of the classic Black & White Surprise by Per Clausen of Denmark 🇩🇰 The perfect close-up effect. I don’t perform this nearly enough but that’s going to change.

I had the original a few years back and didn't like it. The chips, as one poster said, are difficult to hold in place.

Mine (black and white surprise, original) was stolen and I am looking to replace it. Can anyone help point me to someone willing to part with theirs? Preferably a new set, but Im somewhat desperate. Ive have used this trick for over 20 years!!! I am very sad I can not find this anywhere.

This is an interesting thread ...

"Black and White Surprise" appears to be an identical routine called "Casino Coins" ... produced about 20 years ago in the UK by Eddie Gibson.
This "brand name" still appears under the name of Eddie Gibson, but the routine is no longer the same - a great shame.

However ... a great routine.
Absolutely flawless ... a real worker.
