I am just looking to hear about you guys' favorite ring on rope routine.
If you could, provide a quick review on why it is your favorite. I am looking for the best ones to take a look at. Thank you, Andrew |

Full Circle is pretty cool, giving credit and combining effcts by Daryl and Williamson.

Check out the Relentless Ring and String, and Ring Leader by Gregory Wilson.
I am considering buying those two, they are about the same price and both include a string(not sure about ring, I think one does include a big metal ring). |

For a larger ring check out Mark Leveridge Master Routines 2 video or one of the Jeff McBride Videos as well as Aldo Colombini. For a finger ring, the Greg Wilson Ring Leader Video is chockful of moves plus a six-phase base routine.

Ring Leader and Relentless Ring and String are both excellent. They use a finger ring.
On Eric DeCamps video there is a great routine using a cord (I use a rope) and a 2 1/2 to 3 inch ring. Advice: You may be tempted to show your spectators every kind of sequence you know. Don't. I do a finger ring and cord routine with 5 sequences. Two are my own, and three are from Ring Leader and Relentless String. For the larger rope and ring I also do 5 sequences two of which are from Eric's video and one of my own and two which I learned from Aldo. These routines are essentially angleproof, portable and can play to a decent size audience. They are also very powerful magic since the finger ring can be done with a borrowed ring (and shoelace for that matter). |

What I meant by ring on rope effects would be the parlor version. The one with a big rope and a steel ring or bracelet, etc. I have already watched Daryl's routine and liked it a lot.

Tabary (the KING of rope magic) has one on the second volume of his videos.

Andrew,
I too like Daryl's ring and rope routine found on one of his Fooler Drooler DVDs. I can also second Full Circle. If you haven't seen this effect it is an expanded version of Professor's Nightmare done with a harness ring. It is similar to 3 Ropes and a Baby (uses many of the same moves of Columbini and Williamson). I'd check out the short routine as it gets a thumbs up from me. I also love Scott Guinn's Ring and Rope routine found in his book It's More Magic or in the It's Magic Trilogy. If you already have the props than this would be the best bang for your buck. This book contains EXCELLENT routines one of which is a very detailed ring and rope routine. The book also includes 2 other versions of finger ring and string routines, his table hopping cups and balls, and his sponge ball routine. As you can tell, I am a big fan of Mr. Guinn. You cannot go wrong with any of his books. Also, you can purchase the needed props directly from him. So in summary, I'd recommend Full Cirlce and Scott Guinn's routine. Get Scott's book - it's a keeper! |

I saw the Full Circle back when I didn't know any magic with rings or ropes and it fooled me badly. I liked it a lot. I think I have that tape lying around somewhere.

Andrew,
For pure magic, I would recommend Jay Scott Berry's "Symphony of the Ring on Ribbon" effect. It is breath-taking to watch. Mike

Isn't that a finger ring on string routine? I am looking for a larger scale routine with a large rope and large ring. For parlor and stage.

Mark Leveridge Master Routines 2 has an interesting presentation (sort of a Magician Olmpics Competition) using a large ring and rope. His moves are similar to Aldo's.
I think it was the 1st Jeff McBride Stage Magic video that had a really large ring and rope with some nice moves. |

Hi Andrew:
I like Daryl's routine on Fooler Doolers. I also like the Willi Wessel routine done by a European Magician on El Duco's video. I did not care for Aldo's Ringing Around or David Eldridge's routine on Brad Burt's video. Neither was very magical, IMO. I bought Scott Guinn's booklet, but haven't tried the routine yet...it looks good, and well thought out. My favorite is the routine from "Magic for Humans" video. I can't think of the guy's name...Frank something. It's very good. Sometime ago, I heard somewhere that Carl Andrews is putting together a video on Ring and Rope. I hope those rumors are true, as I like his magic very much. Hope this helps you. Ron Reid |

I like the full circle routine, it plays for all audiences and you can make bigger ropes for a bigger show. I am not familiar with all the others, but judging from the posts you can't go wrong with any of them. You said you had full circle, so I would recommend giving it a whirl and saving a few bucks.

Alfred's Ring on string is great.
I have seen it several times and I still love it. It has an interesting patter about how the ring is in love with the string! :sun: It is quite expensive to buy but it comes with the rope, ring, routine and special 'Ding' sound effect! Owen |

There is a great routine on the full 90 minute David Williamson lecture tape from International Magic in the UK.
http://www.internationalmagic.com The routine is not mentioned in the promotional blurb on the site, but it's definately on there. As you would expect, there is also an abundance of other fantastic material on the video; cards, coins, cups and balls, spoon bend etc. One of the best tapes I own. Go to the site and search for "Williamson" Cheers Dave |

I love the Ring Leader routine. It is funny, practical and you can use literally every time. If your style is to use humor, don't miss this one.
