Could there be a way a website can be put together where some of the pages are HTML and some in flash? If so, can some parts of a page be in HTML and other parts be in flash?

Flash can just be embedded on a page as an object, so you can mix it up as much as you want.
Thanks, Richard |

Dynamike,
That's a great idea. Most people will tell you that flash is terrible for SEO, and you shouldn't have any on your page. I disagree! Flash elements (embedded) are wonderful! By structuring your page mostly in HTML, with other added elements, you make for a nice-looking, seo-friendly page! Best Wishes! |

You can also buy pre made flash and put in pics/video that you want, then embed it on your page. Just search for flash templates.

From what I understand, a site can be built entirely in html and then have flash elements, (slideshow, flash banner, mouse-over effects) incorporated into the html site. I still don't really understand the concern with SEO for magicians to receive random hits off the internet, but hey, that's okay.

There are a bunch of questions you have to consider when deciding whether to use: CSS, Html, Flash, ASP, PHP and any other technology for the web.
In the BEST of all worlds, you design a site with a browser checker that sees what browser is being used and then serves up whatever version of the site will look best for that browser. I phones, for instance, don't do flash- Period. Not flash based sites, not flash content, nada. They might some day, but they don't now. So, you have to ask if that matters to you? There is no right answer. It is what matters to you. If your site is an entertainment based one, meant to dazzle visually, excite, entertain and become viral; Then Flash, animations, video, audio high end graphics etc. are a must. If the audience for your site is prospective middle aged bookers who have dial up internet... not so much. All flash sites are death in terms of SEO. So... do you WANT people to find you based on search engine results, or some other way? If Search Engine results are not important to you, all flash can be AMAZING. If search results ARE important, then a combination of flash within an HTML based page will do much better. If the ADA is continued to push to include web sites, then all USA based sites may one day legally have to use the CSS standards so that the site, with all styles disabled, will be accessible to anyone. What tends to happen is, if you have a designer who is a wonder kid at flash, then that is what they want to use. Have someone else who can make CSS purr, and they want to use nothing but CSS. Have a designer who likes his table based HTML lay outs, and guess what he will tell you to use. When all you have is a hammer... So, it pays to educate yourself and ask lots of questions- taking all the answers as being correct and accurate FROM ONE POINT OF VIEW- and then figuring out what you wand from there.

Bravo. Very well said.
CSS is your friend. Flash, not so much. Another thing I dislike about Flash is lack of bookmarking specific pages. Arg. And the iPhone thing is not a minor thing, considering it's dominance in mobile device browser user. Scott "sticking with CSS" Sullivan |

From the guy who has left full time entertainment over the last month into being a full time Internet Marketing Consultant
CSS is king.. had a client who just paid 5k for a NEW website.. and it was done all flash... looks GREAT.. but he lost over 1k in listings in Google.. and his page rank.. well its gonna DIE.. because you CANNOT link into internal pages within flash.. my suggestion to the NEW CLIENT.. THROW IT OUT START OVER.. he turned white as a ghost.. I told him.. don't panic.. had my graphics guy build him a wordpress site.. that has a similar look to the flash (heavy with CSS) and in 2 days.. had 30 front page listings in Google.. moral of the story.. if you want traffic from Google avoid flash as if it was the plague (embedded video is fine, I use that) If you want more than a online business card and promo kit (as in something that gets you business from people you have never met) USE CSS Mike "sticking with CSS Also" Clay
its ok.. balloon dogs don't bite

I just have to add that I agree with the above posts about flash. It can look like a million bucks but there is some downside to using it. Good luck to you.

I learned that flash looks good, but "business before pleasure".
