That's great to hear! I have a few friends doing the magic camps and they enjoy teaching! Certainly a different kind of challenge. I tried it over Zoom a few years back and was less successful, but it's fun to try out new things and see what works.

I'm headed to North Carolina for six weeks to do a movie and then I'm at the Chicago Magic Lounge the first week of June. Not a ton of time to rehearse the show in between, so I may bring some of the act to set and just do it there to stay fresh! I was also recognized by someone who'd seen me perform at an event earlier this year, so my sponge banana routine seems to really have legs.

Let me know the next time you find yourself in LA! The castle is as busy as ever!

Thanks Andrew. I will let you know the next time I’m heading to The Castle. It’s been pre-pandemic since I’ve been there, so need to get back!

I've started practicing Card slinging again. I forgot how much I loved the feeling of this.

Throwing the deck over my shoulder and catching it in two halves to make one handed fans (but never the finest quality).

Doing split fans and tossing them up to reposition catch so they are face out instead of backs out. spinning a card up to find a chosen card caught in a Charlier.

One handed shuffles, Sybil, one hand running blind cut. Various other flourishy stuff.

Not back to my old success rate but really enjoying the chase and picking up cards is good exercise.

It's not really the most useful material in the real world but since it gives me joy I've started up again.

Glad to be able to post here again.

That's great to hear, Mary! I've never gotten much into it but I'm so impressed when I see others doing it. It's such a fun visual thing to witness! I hope we can see some of your work soon!

I'm working on a new parlor act that I'll be taping at the Magic Castle early next year. My act has definitely started to outgrow the close up spaces I'm accustomed to, though I enjoy continuing to play around in that arena as well. I saw Dani DaOrtiz recently and got into some of his material that's a lot of fun to experiment with and learn from.

I've got some fun holiday gigs coming up and a few dates on the books for the spring. I hope others here are doing well!

I'm not working much but doing well.

Best of luck with the venture into parlor work.

Well parlor work at the Castle.

I'm sure you've done it before or you wouldn't be doing it there.

Thank you, Mary! It's fun to work on new material and find ways to incorporate some of the close up stuff I do into a parlor or stage show. That's been an enjoyable exercise for me. As we're in the swing of holiday season now, I'm getting more chances to try things out for a variety of audiences.

Hoping everyone had a good Thanksgiving!
