In a gambling scenario one must hop the deck in order to reverse the cut. Would people please give me their input on which passes are the most invisible. I have a very fast classic pass just one little problem with it. I learned it the wrong way by using my 1st finger and middle finger to leaver the bottom packet instead of the taught and professional way of using the middle and 3rd finger. Does anyone have the same problem as I do. And would anyone say that the proper way its better than my modified way and what reasons. (I am looking for an excuse to reteach myself the proper way if you know what I mean)

Thank!!

When doing Gambling shows or any other table work, the classic pass is not the best pass to use. There are specific passes and/or "hops" to use when seated at a table.

But, to answer your question, one major "tell" to the classic pass is the fact that the 1st finger usually points out as the pass executes. In order to eliminate this "tell" try curling your first finger on the bottom of the deck while you execute the pass.

This will prevent that tell...

As far as fixing your problem...unfortunatly bad habits are hard to break, so practice, practice practice.

The best pass at the table IMHO is Doc's Infinity. Search the forum for more.

I had a similar (not really that similar) problem, I learned the classic pass holding the deck in my left hand because I was just starting out and it was one of the first sleights I learned, anyway I actually always hold the deck in my right hand for dealing, etc. My pass was pretty good so I didn't want to give it up and start all over again, but about a year and a half ago a great friend and teacher told me to do it while I was still young, that it gets harder to change bad habits as you get older. Well, it's been more than a year and my pass is nowhere where I'd like it to be, but at least it's in my correct hand Smile

I don't know what this has to do with te topic other than to tell you to change bad habits as soon as you can, it'll get more difficult with time.

Richard Turner has an entire DVD on hops, passes and ways around the cut. In addition to that I also like Marlo's table edge pass, which uses the table to cover the tells of the left hand.

RicharD Turner's shifts hops and magic passes has some pretty good techniques, but very few of those moves would actually work in a real game, because a lot of the moves require extra cover or very unusual movements that would arouse suspicion, unless you have a partner to distract the player.

Marlo's table edge pass is one of my favourites as well, but what's bad about the technique is, some house procedures dictate, everything must happen strictly on the table, in full view. Shuffling, cutting and dealing. The cards must not get off the table, or the edge of it (some people might be aware of cold decks, which most of them are brought from the edge of the table, so you don't want to give off the wrong idea).

The table hop is a good technique if you're proficient enough, in the hands classic pass is another good one, or even "the stall", you'll be surprised how many times the moves just flies by ang goes unnoticed.

Are you looking for something for magic?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Have a partner who can do false cut (e.g. tapcut or classic cut).
that will solve your problems.
