I think the key to a stronger presentation, like Jan said, is to not handle the cards at all. Just ask them to see how many they won. You could do the reverse and ask them to discard the losing ones onto the table face down. Then just work it out backwards.

I'm thinking of combining this with a Magic Square presentation when the "right" number has been selected. Has this idea been mentioned before and what do you think?

When you discover that the Spec has thought of a number in the proper range to do an effective Magic Square (for my Magic Square, it would be more than half the time, since the low numbers are not often selected), write down the first row of numbers as you're asking the Spec to concentrate on her number. Presentationally, you could proceed in several different directions at this point.

In any event, after you have completed the rows of numbers, ask the Spec to name her number. It is at that point that you draw the lines of the Magic Square and show the 20+ ways her number is reached by adding the various numbers in the square.

One presentation is "The Mentalist Makes Good." You make 16 separate guesses at the Spec's number and fail each time. In the end, you prove that you must have known the number all the time.

Since I don't have PB60, I haven't tried this out, yet. Does the Magic Square presentation clash with the methodology of the trick? Does it point the way to a math solution? Does it become too much of a puzzle, as Magic Squares can certainly be considered?

What do you think?

HEY DK,
nice thinking
I would probably say that usually there is seven tickets so, let me write some random numbers on the board and bla bla bla
so the board becomes the seventh number and move on with the Magic Square ending
Tricks aren't important...people are!!!

Personally, I wouldn't combine this with a magic square presentation I think the process of both the PB60 and magic square may make the spectator think that this is mathematical trick and less magical.

Where does this ship out from if you buy directly from their website? Just curious if I would have this by the holiday weekend!

Best,

I agree, no M Square nonsense. Why play it as a trick instead of miracle mind reading?

I just bought some more lottery tickets and will store these and PB in my suggestion box for my stage and parlor shows!

Plan on using SSK as a followup, everyone dealing with money and economy issues today.

I have watched some sorely inept performances of this on youtube. I was going to use the word amateur..but these "performances" do the word amateur a terrible dis-service. These "magicians" seem to be under the illusion that the trick is so strong that they literally have to give ZERO thought to presentation. The presentation IS the trick here - there's an old mathematical principle at work that needs as much disquise through character and presentation as possible. People WILL figure this out in no time if you don't put some creative thinking into the way you act or present it. None of the people I've watched presenting it yet give the remotest impression that they could ever read a mind etc. This in itself will lead people to think that the trick must therefore really be a piece of cake. Thus...its probably mathematical. Come on...do your bit people - don't leave all the work to the props! (Obviously I'm not talking to the good amateurs or pros here).

Hey Kalsolar
I completely agree with you just a bunch of idiots with a party trick. It is totally ruining the effect. I have to say this is a fantastic trick spoilt on You Tube by a bunch of bell ends with no skill at all.

So true. The Youtube poor performers, for some reason, insist on filming their horrible performances and ruining the trick for everyone.

Would really appreciate some help from the creators of this GREAT effect. Or help from anyone for that matter. I have been trying unsuccessfully to download the PDF included with the DVD. When clicking the download link, I am told that my IP address is different from the one used for registration. This makes no sense. Then when I try to re-enter my information, I'm told that I have gone past the allotted time to download the file. This is REALLY frustrating. I purchased it legally. I just want the pdf file.

I appreciate the need to protect intellectual property, but REALLY. I'm just trying to get an instruction manual, not the design schematics for a nuclear weapon ...

I'd appreciate any help that can be offered. Another download location, anything.

Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming no one is specifically calling you that, but I would like to give you some advice. First, read the posts in this thread about the importance about performance, and then try not to put much emphasise on the tickets. In your video, you merely present it as a trick rather than a mentalist feat. PB60 is just a tool. Work on the presentation and your performance of it. Hopefully others here who are critical of such video's on youtube like yours will be gracious enough to give you some advice on how to better perform PB60 as I am not much of a mentalist.

All the best to you. Smile
