Aldo's routine is very good! If we are talking about ring and rope for stage or parlor, definetively Aldo Colombini is the way to go, but if we are talking about finger ring on string Diamond Jym Tylers "Pocket Full of miracles" ( Book or dvd) have the best " Ring on string " that I have seen in years.
Best always, Hansel!

If your interest is a finger ring & String routine, I've had great success with Dan Fleshman's "Ring & String" routine.

For whatever routine that you do, you've got to have more than just 1 or 2 moves. Here's why:
Moves of different types will cancel out the possible methods that the spectator is guessing. And make sure that you do the "Fake Remove" moves near the END of the routine, after you've convinced the spectator that you really can remove a ring from the string. It just plays stronger that way. My new Relentless Ring & String DVD is out now. See a 1 min review of it at http://www.BobMillerMagic.biz

Everyone speaks very highly of your routine Bob.
Is this a newly updated version that you're talking about?

I suspect you'll need to buy a set of "ninja rings" to get a 5" diameter ring. If you can live with 3" diameter, it's hard to beat this seller's prices:

Hey wally--I have a 5 or 6 inch plastic ring that came with Aldo Columbini's Ringing Around Too. PM me if you might want it in trade.

I use the reef scuba 3" ring. I like them. Wish they had a 4" or 5" ...

The seams can be a bit rough unless you shop carefully, but big box stores like Home Depot or Lowe's carry nickel plated steel rings in the fastener department. I find them fine for most ring & rope routines. Under a buck, generally.

Oddly, I could not find them in horse tack tack shops as harness rings without buying a whole harness...B-)

Anyone used a small 1" diameter ring from http://www.reefscuba.com/brass_rings.htm for a close up ring and string.

I have used the two rings form a "Dollar Squeeze" that are about an inch in diameter. I think a Quarter Squeeze will work.
This played well when I finished up with the Squeeze and seemed to justify the rings as something other than magic props. I used a Medieval theme.
