There are, indeed, many similar threads...

Do you consider the center tear a routine or a tool?

A tool that enables you to perform loads of wonderful routines!
I use Osterlinds PCT and it's just perfect for walkaround. A piece of paper and a pen - that's all I need to perform miracles. |

Osterlind's PCT is my favorite tear as well. FloKiel, I hope you also understand that my last post was just a play on words, and not directed at you. Just wanted to clarify.

Instead of limiting it to routines, how about broadening the scope a bit and making it "items"?
A possible list (not necessarily limited to 5) might be: - deck of cards - some coins - rope or string - a TT - sponges - a pen - business cards - a Sharpie - a magnet - IET loops - etc. Personally, I think that would be much more practical, and might help to prevent the prevalent problem of thousands of magicians performing the same handful of effects! Of course, it would also likely make for a pretty short topic...

I pretty much just carry a mental photography deck, a blue-backed regular deck with an extra red-backed card, a sharpie pen, four 1" sponge balls, a couple of rubber bands, a stack of business cards and a professor's nightmare. This gives me a whole bunch of material to do that can be worked out of the hands and allows me to stay organized enough that I am not fumbling for props. If it is appropriate for me to use the table space at the venue, I will carry a mini chop cup and two 1 1/2" load balls. I keep the extra odd colored card in the regular deck to allow me to do the Chicago Opener (Actually, I do Ammar's Bluefield Debut) and the color changing deck. I use the business cards as a prop in a routine which allows me to leave them at the table without looking like I'm just passing out cards.
Thanks, Richard |
