Online - penguin
however, I love all brick and mortar magic shops regardless of the size. I still haven't found one I haven't enjoyed myself in. Nothing like browsing, getting to touch the products and ask questions and get suggestions.

Had a really bad experience with magictrickstore today - I ordered an item on sale hoping to have it before Thanksgiving so I could do a performance - they shipped me the wrong item (saying it was a supplier mistake), but refuse to send me the correct one because "it isn't on sale anymore", so all I can do is return the wrong item... will definitely be looking for another online sales site. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive each way for me to get to the local magic shop (twin cities magic in MN), but I guess well worth the time to get good personal service - lesson learned hard way.

Penguin used to have free shipping. Their service is great. Now I use MJM.

Both Penguin and MJM have free shipping on orders over $50 - no difference (although Penguin has many products under $50 that qualify for free flat pack shipping)

I found the customer service at Penguin second to none. I buy primarily through them for many effects. They won me over so many times starting in 2003 when I bought a bunch of DVDs. It was lost in the mail at the apartment complex and never found.. I gave them a call and they immediately re-sent everything, no questions asked. I have spent thousands of dollars with Penguin over the years and feel like a valued customer. They have always delivered extremely quickly and really produce high quality products.

Trick Supply (the company that bought Hank Lee's stock) is very good. Trick Supply and its owner is honest and the polar opposite of Hank Lee. I bought an item that they didn't no longer being produced. He called me up personally and gave me a refund. I buy those hard to find items there not carried by Penguin that I need in performing. My one experience with Hank Lee was better than some. I thought I was buying Timothy Wenk's PB&J; Hank Lee posted this effect on the website. I was truly excited since I wanted the original to support the creator and not a poorly constructed Chinese knockoff. Fast forward to when I received what I purchased, it was the Chinese knockoff. I was upset and up the creek.

I also support the local magic shop when I visit several times every three months across town. The one by my house closed down 8 years ago. It has been a staple for 26 years. I got some great advice there from some of the old magicians when starting out years ago. It brings a tear to my eye not being able to walk in that shop and see the signed poster of the patron saint of Dallas magicians: Mark Wilson.

The majority of us don't have a choice anymore. Our magic purchases have to be online or over the phone. These days I stay with the Frozen Bird, Vanishing Inc., Hocus Pocus, Denny and Lee, and used items that come up here on occasion.

MJM Magic has amazing customer service. I had ordered an effect that had become sold out. They searched until they found another one.

3 Generations of Magic is my favorite Brick and Mortar shop. Staff is genuine and extremely helpful.
I also order from
1. Penguin Magic (Always excellent service - especially love watching my order packed)
2. Hocus Pocus Magic (Sometimes the owner, Paul, actually answers the phone)
3. Vanishing Inc. (Once again, excellent service - actually spoke to Joshua's mom once)

I ordered a wallet from them. They had used a JOL picture for their item. What I received was not JOL nor did it match their picture. I do not recommend them.
