Is it possible to perform this effect solo, ie without assistant.
Put the contraption on your own head and do the business? And does one size fit all? ( I have a large head!) |

So you have a large head, but do you have long arms? That's what it would take to do it by yourself

Thanks Terry,long arms too.
I hope you don't think Im trying to be funny, Im not! But the blurb reads that you need an assistant for this effect. Anyone tried this without assistant? |

I've seen it done solo with paper bag.

Pete's correct, you can do it solo with paper bag, and there might be one on the market you could do solo, but the nicer ones with a crank on the top, would take 2 people to do...my noggin fits fine with the one I have, but mine has the cut out in the back where you can see the back of the head when it spins around.

Well if you are clever you could have a battery operated display rotating motor.

The torque required makes it a very large motor, and remember his neck is the axis for the box. It would some creative engineering reworking.

Want to see the Paper Bag version in action...
On the David Eldridge "Maximum Impact Magic" DVD, he uses a paper bag. It is called Poor Man's Head Twister. |

YES
Some versions of this trick can be done without an assistant, it's not hard to hold the box and turn the crank. I am 5 foot ten inches with a normal arm length and frame, one does not need overly long arms to perform this solo. |

I just went down into my magical grotto and put the box on my head and twisted it without a problem once again.
*shrugs* When I'm unloading my van after a show theres always a bunch of neighborhood kids running around. To save making extra trips in and out of my house I will put the head twister on my head and carry a bunch of stuff intot he house. it looks silly as I come back out of the house still wearing it. I will then twist my head around for the kids watching me, usually some will offer to help unload, I always tip those kids. |

I think mine is from Mak Magic but not sure, the paint job isn't cheesy, it has a marble look to it, red with blue. It has gold painted egdes and the crank is a mixture of black and grey it seems.
One of my kids broke the clicker inside the top portion of the box, so it has no drag as a result when turning the wheel on top, this sorta helps. |

Perhaps someone else reading has this prop, can pop it on their head, and give us a verdict?

Can't be done with the better versions of it, I tried mine on, can't do it alone...even if you have long arms, not gracefully or professionally enough to make it a great illusion.
Could someone please turn the crank so I can get this off my head...I'm stuck in here... |
