Just a product review of the Amazing System by David Farr. I just purchased the program last week during Eric and Dave's Webinar. I had also heard about it once through Brad Ross and Dave's Webinar, but didn't buy into it right away.
Dave has really went above and beyond in offering tutorial videos, downloads and much more that you will have access to once you are a member. I spent this evening after work toying around with the template and hanging out in the members only site. I can say with complete confidence that this program was well worth the $197.00 investment. I am anxious to the the site web ready and run some test ads to track results. If you have been debating....just get it! Sincerely, Charles |

There's that magic number again. Is every magic course 97, 197 or 297 dollars?

It's not the $197 which makes me balk -- it's the monthly fee.

The montly fee of 30$?
Posted: Oct 19, 2009 12:31am Please note that honesty is what I live by. I would not put a review on a product that doesn't have value. Talent definitely overides all of the marketing courses avaliable. I learned this from Eric Paul's Zero to Sixty Course...investment 27$ If you lack to energy to wake up call and tell people about your show...it's probably because your show needs work. Charles |

Yes I understand why there is a montly fee of $30.00, but not sure why that would set him back much.

The flaw in Farr's system is that it revolves around 1shoppingcart.com. Personally I don't have a problem with 1shoppingcart, however if anything happens to the company, then you have Farr's system that isn't connected to anything.
I don't know how much of Farr's product covers any web hosting or other types of automated systems. $200 seems a bit steep to cover just one online product when there are many to choose from. |

Neale, don't you know, 7 is the magic number. In all seriousness, I've actually looked at the marketing research on that and any price ending in 7 does sell better than one that doesn't.
It has to do with 7 being a "lucky" number in many cultures, so it becomes a subconscious thing. It's actually very fascinating. Charles, how is his system different than something like MailChimp? I love what MailChimp can do and am very interested in your thoughts. |

The bonuses you mentioned - or rather where you see the value in the product, doesn't that come back to 1shoppingcart? Templates, tutorials, videos, etc. Or do they cover other things away from 1shoppingcart?
Also the phone consultation - is that specific to 1shoppingcart or can other subjects be discussed? Again, nothing against 1shoppingcart, but you should understand that if you are a 1shoppingcart customer, they provide free support and here it seems like you're paying for support. A lot of these guys, not just Farr, love to recommend 1shoppingcart because if you sign up through them and their product, they make an affiliate commission. All the "success-gurus" not just magicians do this. |

The system should be worth the $197 without those bonuses. If you are a new customer to this product, perhaps you don't fully understand what you have purchased. I have been on a few of these calls now, and as I understand things, what you are paying for is David's system. You are getting his series of emails and the sequence that he has set up. You are getting his copywriting, and all of the automated emails that he has created in response to various nuances. As you interact with customers, you discover all sorts of emails that you end up writing. He has taken all of the guess work out of that for you. You choose which email to send them, or which series of emails to send to them. If the customer wants this piece of info, "Bam!", here's the email you send them. If the customer forgets to send you this piece of info, "Bam!", here's the email you send them. When the customer has finished booking, "Bam!", here's the confirmation email that you send them formatted with the info you gleaned from them earlier. The series are designed to take you from inquiry, though booking, through the show itself, and then through follow-up, and even into follow-up for next year. Again, it's a "System" that you are buying. In this case, it's a "system" associated with submit forms and response emails (single or series). It's the copywriting, and the appropriate emails (plug and play). Some people don't use systems in their business, or they just kind of wing a lot of things, or they are very stuck in their old system, and so they don't quite get the concept. - Donald P.S. Here's a link to a recent thread where I shared one of my business systems. It was not an email system, but it still was a system. Notice how many people commented as if they didn't have a system created / written out for their own business.

Remember that grocery stores, electronic stores, walmart, car dealerships, etc. all use the odd number pricing. Some of those stores use the "7" more than others, and some use the "9" more than others. Rarely are the numbers rounded up.
Keep your eyes open for it, and you'll notice it in more places than just on magic marketing and internet marketing websites. It's a pretty common practice. - Donald

However if this can work with other software that allows for automated replies and interaction, then I can see the value in it. |

You mean, "...not that great of a value TO YOU..." Also remember, that some other people don't see it the same way as you. They might not be used to other automated software, and so they are happy to take David's advice on which one to use, and happy to accept his help setting it up on a software he's used to using. Not everyone shares the same opinion as you. And it would make sense that your opinion would be different, if you are used to doing yourself and you have the skill set. If I wanted to set something like this up, I'd be the type of person who would look to David Farr and his system, and be glad about his expertise with 1shoppingcart. The dependence on that software wouldn't phase me in the slightest. - Donald

The problem I have with this product is it's potential dependence on one online service that may or may not be around a year or so down the line. I do have questions for David and will ask him directly.

1shoppingcart.com has been around for 10 years and they've got a fairly popular product. Ultimately it's up to you if you want to reinvent the wheel as it were and build your own client database, email scheduling/autoresponse framework and integration platform or leveredge one that is existing (1shoppingcart isn't the only game in town).
Likewise, you can define your own workflow and email templates, or you can determine what your time is worth and decide if you want to buy a pre-packaged system that is 80-90% set up for you. If you already have most of that defined, then it doesn't make sense to buy somebody else's system. As Donald pointed out, many magicians don't really have a business system. For the one-time fee, David sets up your 1shopping cart account with all the emails, rules, etc. You could also spend $44/month to run microsoft dynamics CRM (for exapmle) and get the same capability (and more) and set it up yourself. MS will probably be around "a year or so down the line" |

As I said above, I use MailChip for my autoresponders and newsletters.
I'm still not sure I'm clear what this system offers that I can't do with something like MailChimp? I've read through his entire sales 'mini-site' and as I read his bullet points, I kept thinking, well, MailChimp does this already. Plus, MailChimp allows you to: * export your data as a standard file format so you're not locked into a 'system' * allows you to integrate with Google Analytics to track how well you are improving * allows A/B testing to improve your sales letters and autoresponder emails on actual analyical testing * is free for up to 500 subscribers * is 100% CAN-SPAM compliant I didn't see any of that on Farr's system. Maybe I just missed it though. I'm not against his system. More power to him. I'm just curious what his system does that MailChimp can't. |

Browsing mailChip's website, it looks like to can create a system that does the same thing. David Farr's 'system' is simply his workflow and email templates for booking and following up on shows, implemented on 1shoppingcart.
You can export from 1shoppingcart too, but I don't know about a/b testing, google analytics integration (both would be very useful) and the pricing structure is different. Most services like this are CAN-SPAM compliant. The gist of the law is you need to have your address on your emails and have the ability to unsubscribe. |

"that I can't do" - Scott, I think that is the key here, if you have the time, knowledge and ability to do it. Go for it. I admire those that can, but for some who can't, the price David is charging is not excessive.
(Note: I do not have the system, but I know of it. By the amount of work/material he gives you, and the time he saves you, even if it is just the set-up help. It is worth it.) Of course, if you have a friend that can help you free, at sometime, maybe next week, when they get around to it, etc. That is also an option. I would suggest anyone interested in David's system, check out the ads, if you have any questions, contact him. Just a further thought (with me not being computer lit. - typing on the Café does not count LOL) I am sure you can use the same forms on any system out there you chose. (Of course with some modification) Blair
