What is everyone's favorite "Wow Em" type of effect in your shows. The effect that people seem to talk about most after your shows are over. I believe mine is The Lemon Game by Doug Malloy. Although a lot of people do talk about 2 of the rope effects a lot also. The cut & restored rope routine I do and also Hang Em High by Bob Sheets. Still, it's The Lemon Game that I know gets more talk than any other effect I do.

Believe it or not it seems to be for me the....

Ultimate Airborne, Polka Dot Silk, Snowstorm in China and Steve Duchecks (sp?) Waltzing Matilda that really seems to get the gasps and awe inspired worship befitting a Magical Knight of the Round Linking Rings.

Hahahahahaha!

But I mean it, 'tis true my Lords.

Times often it seems also there are other deceptions that seem to gain respect with the audiences I have had the wonderful pleasure of entertaining which are...

Ropes thru Neck
Ropes thru Body
Cups & balls
Linking Rings
Eggbag
Straitjacket

CARD IN PICTURE FRAME
(an original examinable effect and not a sandframe, everything can be examined)

Geez...the list could go on really, sponges, sponges are cool, better than cool...magic that happens in their hands...priceless.

Soon it will be Chinese Sticks for certain. As for me, I am making my own, so far I have five black plastic tubes cut to the same measurements. With these I will make two sticks capable of executing the trick and then I will have two others examinable after the show due to a switch. The 5th stick will be gimmicked in such a way I cannot describe for now.

I have gotten very good reactions with lemon game as well, also enjoy performing it a lot. When I do Master Prediction System its always the one they talk about, though its no that often in my set.

Jumbo Sidekick is also a killer.

Still, in comparison with these valuable effects, silk to egg is the best bang for the buck. It always gets a good reaction (especially when the "hole" is peeled away) and I pretty much do it every time.

Torn and restored newspaper. I'm a newspaper editor in my day job and people talk about it months after one of my shows.

Wow jumbo sidekick looks like a GREAT effect. I hadn't seen that one.

I have a tipover trunk that I like to produce my daughter from if conditions permit. its fast, rolls right out, completely empty and bam she pops out, it has a big impact, although this is definitely packs big plays big...

That's a great effect Ian. I purchased it years ago when it first came out at Tannen's Magic Shop. Back then it was $99.95. Not sure how much it is now, but I'm sure it's a lot more as far back as that was. I should get it out and start practicing with it again. It always got good reactions from the audience.

Hello Russell,

I agree with you on the Lemon Game. I recently won an "America's Got Talent" type program for the military here in Iraq with my variation of the Lemon Game. I put a brief video clip of it on Youtube.

1. Death Trap (A big knife under bag(s) smash.

2. My Lota bowl with serious story of the cracked pot

3. Snow with routine very close to KJ's first one -- (sorry I had to sell this one.)

Wow, you definitely have the showmanship along with the effects down Scott. Great performance! I really enjoyed that. No wonder you won. Glad they at least let you have a little bit of fun being there in Irag. Keep up the good work and stay safe!

Gregg, I like to use Death Trap occasionally also along with the Steel Blindfold by Richard Osterlind. I've seen the "Magic Gone Wrong" clips on youtube though and I still get extremely nervous performing it. The build up I use really gets the audiences on their toes. Did it once when my mom was in the audience. She said she was going to find where I keep it and burn it. She obviously didn't like me doing it. LOL!

1.) Bet Your Bucks (Cody Fisher)
2.) Cassette Tape Prediciction (T.A Waters)
3.) Hospitality (Jim Steinmeyer)

Russell -

Inattentiveness will screw up death trap -- and your hand. I have had to bail out of performances of this segment ow and again -- not because of the prop's malfunction or mis-remembering but because of odd
conditions.

My best work was done for conventions, trade shows and regional sales seminars in the "Rag Business".

Often my performances were spread out into segments for entertainment or keynoting a day's events for the sponsor.

Working in Boulder, CO one time -- there were 9 segments for a school setting at a major hotel -- one at each meal. Everything was hunky dory until the third day -- when the hotel moved the breakfast from the usual room out into a lovely patio where the sun was behand me. That light washed out everything that was subtle....if you catch my drift.

I stupidly went through, on chance and stupidity, the first three bags.......before I quit. Luckily no injury, but a better understanding of controlling the milieu surrounding my "wow" trick -- and the purchase of a non-lethal substitute to use when I could not -- using broken beer bottles.

Wow Gregg, you have more guts than I do. If any of my shows, in which I performed Death Trap, were moved to outdoors, then I just simply wouldn't do the effect. Value my hand too much for that. Glad that you weren't injured though, and I know not as much as you were.
